No fuel pressure on 1993 Dodge Dakota, How do I check the fuel pump? I cannot hear it run.

I can hear a relay click when I turn the key on but do not know which one it is. It will start and run with starting fluid. I checked the fuel filter and cycled the key with the filter off and got no fuel.

If you cannot hear the fuel pump prime up when you turn the key to on there is a fault with your fuel pump. check the fuse in the fuse relay box and the 2 wired connections on the fuel pump, if still no good than replace the fuel pump

Its a 1993 dodge colt vista se we shut off the engine & know it just turns over but wont start

Probably lost either spark or fuel to the engine. Try starting it with starting fluid into the intake. If nothing happens, check for spark on a spark plug wire- probably the ignition system. If it runs for a second or two with starting fluid, it is a fuel problem-check fuel pressure to see if the fuel pump is still working.

92 Dakota 3.9 L fuel pump won't shut off. What is going on?

the fuel pump relay contacts may have fused together, remove the relay and see if it stops, if it nuns for10 minutes then stops points to fuel fault, replace the filter then check pressure and flow. if the pressure is low check the fuel regulator and pump.

Truck wont start

If you have no fuel pressure at the engine when key is on, the pump is not coming on. Check fuel pump fuse, check fuel pump relay (relay should click when key turned to on-put finger lightly on it and feel for click when someone turns key to on). If no click, signal from computer may be lost, ground for relay may be lost, or relay may be bad. If it clicks, wiring from relay to pump may have failed, or the relay's main power source may not be there at relay-find the fuse link or maxi-fuse that powers that relay. One terminal at relay should be hot at all times-can check for that with a test light.
If pump is working and you do have fuel pressure, you will need to check injector circuit. Post back if questions, or need further help.

My dodge dakota truck will not start. It has power we tried to pop the clutch too.

do you mean the truck won`t start and run or do you mean it won`t turn over with the key.if it won`t turn over with the key the you may have a starter problem.if you mean won`t start then it could be the fuel pump not working.with someone cranking the motor you should hear the fuel pump running with the gas cap off and listening at the filler neck.or hear it running listening under the truck at the gas tank.if you don`t hear it then you can hit the tack sharply with your hand or a rubber hammer,it hear the pump start to run then the fuel pump needs replacing.if not check the fuses under the dash and under the hood.if they are good then it may be the pump relay in the relay box under the hood and it should be marked on the box or lid.

92 318 dakota . wont start. i turn key, hear a click at the fuel pump relay then a click at tank but no hum from pump. if fuel filter is clogged and presurized up to filter, will the pump not turn on?

Pump does nor know pressure pcm energizes asd. Relay turns on pump for ten seconds to ensure pressure at injectors is correct for initial cranking try cranking engine while hitting tank and see if it tries to start if it does the pump is worn out.

Got a 92 dodge Dakota i have problems starting it, when i try to turn the truck on it wont fire over but if i leave the key to the run position it takes about 10 minutes before i can hear the relay start...

Check the Auto Shutdown Relay (ASD) in engine power distribution box (left inner fender-under hood)
You should hear fuel pump for 15 sec after you turn on key

89 dakota was sputtering. Wife put gas in it (it was low) and got home fine (10 mi.). started up this morn. and it died after .25 mi. Got it started and got it home. pump or relay?

Did it run out of gas? could be fuel filter.Otherwise turn the key to the run position and you should hear the fuel pump (zzzzzzzzzzzzz),you may only hear it for a couple of seconds, turn the key off and back to run to hear it again. If you don't hear it I would suspect fuel pump,

1993 dodge dakota installed new fuel pump and checked all fuses

Check the shutoff inertia switch. The pump relay/fuse or it could be a bad pump circuit. It could be any of these. Make sure the gas cap is tight. fuel pressure must be good for the pump to work.
