Battery warning light, handbrake light going on and off

I have a 1997 toyota corrola saloon, with 180k miles on it. I was driving it tonight when battery light and handbrake light lit up, after a while they went off again but as I drove on they appeared again, this happened again as I drove on with the warning lights coming on and off. I noticed later that when the warning lights came on, my headlights seemed to get brighter. I would appreciate if anyone might have suggestions as to what might be the problem here. Thanks

thanks gloryglory for your reply, I'll get the alternator checked out. I noticed when driving today that sometimes when the warning lights appeared, there was an accompanying screeching sound from under the bonnet (maybe a belt)??

You could have a alternator problem. When the alternator stops charging the battery you are running on just the battery. When the battery gets weak a lot of weird things starts happening. Have your alternator tested.

That symbol is showing you that one of your tires are under inflated. Each wheel on your car has a sensor which sends a message to cars computer. Check your tire air pressure ,it should be around 36PSI. You may also check for a possible nail or screw in your low tire causing the leak. Good Luck Friend.

On 3 occasions have had 3 loud audible warning beeps, but no warning lights come on, when stationary at traffic lights, with neutral gear and handbrake on.

Sound like a brake on warning so you don't put in gear and drive with the break on however a brake light should come on but it maybe Burt out

Volkswagon Passat 2005 - driving home from work and the handbrake warning light comes on followed by the annoying alarm. Turn slightly left it stops then the ASB warning light comes on followed by the ESP...

This sometimes is triggered by the MAF(Mass Air Flow Sensor), try cleaning it with the highest percent isoproply alcohal first, do not touch the sensor with anything use a big bag to soak it into, or just replace the sensor.

I had the same thing happen. The person that serviced your car forgot to reset the warning light. Put the key in the ignition, press down on the odometer reset button and hold it, then turn the ingnition on. This should reset it, so it will go off again in 5000 miles. This is what I did.
