My 2006 Colorado is making a knocking sound on the top left side of the motor whenn I accelerate

The sound comes from the top side of the motor on the passenger's side. Perhaps where the injectors are. Does the truck have some kind of turbo that may have bad bearings?

I ended up finding it was a knock sensor. It was a real easy fix about 20 minutes and the sensor was only 35 dollars. Thanks for the feedback though.

It sounded like marbles hitting metal. There was no rhythm to the sound. I also noticed it didn't make the sound all the time. I then realized the sound was occurring on warm up and when the motor was under load. In other words, it was happening was the timing was supposed to be advanced. I saw Greg Bernett's comments and realized it could be the knock sensor which, I never heard of before. I took a chance and bought the part since it was only 35 dollars. From Greg's picture I was able to locate the sensor and replace it in about 20 minutes. The truck is running great now.

There is nothing that can make a whining noise in the back of the engine. Likely the noise you hear is coming from either the transmission converter or pump. Before anything else is done, check the fluid level. If the fluid on the dipstick smells burned, you definitely have an internal trans problem.

SOURCE: My car makes a bad growling noise. Everyone said

WHEEL BEARING USUALLY STARTS MAKING A ROARING TYPE NOISE WHICH USUALLY GETS LOUDER THE FASTER YOU DRIVE, SOMETIMES THEY WILL BE LOOSE , TO CHECK JACK UP THAT WHEEL AND GRAB TOP AND BOTTOM OF TIRE AND SHAKE, IF THERE IS MOVEMENT, TRY TO GET SOMEONE TO ROCK TIRE FOR YPU AND WATCH WHERE AXLE GOES INTO CENTER OF BEARING AND SEE IF AXLE IS MOVING WITH TIRE MOVEMENT AND SPINDLE REMAINS STATIONARY, THEN IT IS BAD BEARING, OR SOMETIMES THERE WILL BE NO MOVEMENT, THEN BLOCK REAR WHEELS AND RUN CAR WITH THAT WHEEL IN AIR AND SEE IF YOU HEAR NOISE, GOOD LUCK.

SOURCE: my 2006 chevy colorado is making a clicking sound and won't turn over

Your Main Battery is Flat, get a jump start if its safe or remove the battery and hook it up to a charger. Maybe you left your lights on, or your alternator isnt charging the battery properly when your driving around. Sometimes this can be the bushes located in the alternator.

Knocking nosie from left side of 06 saturn ion? hear it all the time but mainly after 2nd gear when it shifts is the worst part?

Have your motor supports checked. Also the drive shaft could be causing the problem if that knocking is not coming from inside the motor.

MY 2000 GMC sierra 5.3L is pinging what could it be?

if it is a knocking sound coming from the top of the motor it could be something as simple as detonation this can be casueed by the incorect fuel grade being used or from years of carbon building up in the cyclenders casueing hot spots. if this infact knocking from this you could try some higher octane fuel or a additive to increase your octane rating and it should get quieter or disapear all together. this could also be cuased by a faulty knock sensor. if the sound is more of a metal on metal sound or farly loud you could be looking at major engein problems. such as a bering getting ready to go or a stuck or sticking valve. or a wrist pin that is getting ready to let loose. is the sound coming from the top of the motor or the bottom. can you here the sound louder on the left or right side of the engen compartment. also i need to know does the sound change with the speed of the motor like when you rev it up. also does the sound get louder or quieter when the truck is under a load like climbing a hill or hard accelerating? I will be able to give a more detailed answer if you answer thous questions also what grade of fuel do you use?
