There is a little hole close to the spool of the water pump, im not sure if its on top or bottom, but once you see that hole start the engine and if water starts leaking out of that hole you need a new water pump.

There are two freeze out plugs at the rear of the block (V8) and many v6 engines. If coolant is coming from where you say, likely they have failed. Unfortunately, the only way to reach them is to remove engine or transmission, It's rare that they fail because they are "protected " by the bellhousing, but can still rot from the inside out. There is no sealer known to man that will fix this. It's a shame that you need to do all that work for a pair of $2.00 plugs, but that's what needs to happen.

Flushing the cooling system has its drawbacks. I you needed one freeze plug, you can reasonably suspect the others are surely right close to failure. In this case, starting to fail one at a rime weakest first. Now, as far as the other issues are concerned. What is the question? Sounds like the tazmanian devil had too much time on hand. I don't know the qualifications or integrity of your mechanic, but I do know a reputable, as well asa professional mechanic is not likely to intentionally or even bother to, contribute to these describe issues. Ocassional blue smoke is an internal problem, The AC is an issue in itself, The caalyctic converter is an issue that is too messy, smrlly thing to deal with. Any evisence of how and of what it was gutted? What was repaired or listed as repaired on your invoice? And what state are you in? It appears you may be seeking legal advice and in this forum it would not be an appropriate place to seek it. You may want to refer this to an Attorney for assistance.. Good luck and I hope you reach some resolve on this matter.

are you sure the cooling fans are working?
Is the coolant temp gauge telling the truth?
have you lifted the hood and heard the coolant bubbling into the overflow?
Or heard the tinging sound of a red hot engine?
If he did a liquid test with the dye,and it changed colors it should have changed very fast,
Another thing to think about if he was to take the fan belt off,and pull the thermostat housing off,and removed the thermostat,Now pour coolant into the thermostat hole to almost the top,Now start the car and see which side the bubbles come from, left or right, that will be the gasket that is leaking not both.

If you have just had major work done to your car and this happened two hours after you picked up the car take it back to your mechanic. If I had to take an educated guess I would say that the head gasket repair didn't work because the head was warped due to the original overheating. But this is just a guess. Your mechanic should have done an oil change to get rid of any coolant left in your oil system and changed the coolant to get rid of any oil left in your cooling system .When they did your head gasket they should have cleaned out any coolant in your combustion chambers, they would be right there in front of them. The arcing that you hear sounds like a short to ground from one of the plugs and could be an easy fix.Not to worry about the two types of oil they're close enough. It is not unusual for the dip stick to read low when the car is running, when the car sits all the oil drains back into the pan.My heart goes out to you because you are dealing with an 11 year old Cavalier that are known for head gasket problems.Your first step should be to take the car back to the mechanic that worked on it and see what he/she has to say.I know you just had the car fixed but you might be further ahead putting any more money into another car and just moving forward. Please let me know how you make out with this and good luck.
