Rattle dashboard My far left panel of the dashboard rattles. I recently found that if I push the panel down, the rattle stops until I release the panel. I found on the Internet instructions on how to remove the panel but I did not try it yet. I want to know what could be the cause of the rattle before starting the repair. Please share your experiences. Thanks

Yours may be different but on my 2007 prius I found out that the rattling or clicking type noise came from the dash rubbing against another piece of plastic somewhere up by the windshield. I just lived with it.

SOURCE: Rattle/Vibration from front of vehicle when idling at stop

Hi and welcome to FixYa. Please try this:
GO out to the car, and lift up on the hood. Does it raise a bit and rattle? If so;
Open the hood, and look at the perimeter of the front radiator support. You will see 2 small rubber thingys, that look like that they are screwed onto the metal that is holding the radiator. Unscrew them a little, and close the hood. Pull up on the hood and see if the rattle goes away. If not, repeat unscrewing the rubber things until the lift disappears.

A FixYa rating (4 blue diamonds) would be greatly appreciated for my assistance.

SOURCE: My Toyota Mr2 Spyder is rattling

Pound on the catalytic converter, you will probably find your rattle inside, if so, you will need a new one, also check for any loose clamps or rings that have come loose, just pound on your exhaust with the side of your fist, you should find your rattle, or sometimes the heat sheilds above the exhaust come loose.

SOURCE: front suspension noises, bad new struts?

It sounds like the mechanic may have left the upper strut nut a bit loose, you may want to ask him to check it, but be nice, Toyota had some problems with upper strut mounts. These are on the top of the strut, they hold them to the body of the car. Unfortunately you have to remove and disassemble the struts to replace them. You could try asking your mechanic to just replace the one side and try it. I'm pretty sure that's your problem and he may give you a break since he's done all the other work. There is also a bulletin on a rattle from the side view mirror, but I think since this just started with the strut job, the mount is your most likely cause.

Rattling noise coming from my 2005 mazda 6's engine. it only happens when i drive slowly such as going through kfc drive through

Good evening.
If this is a tinny type of rattle and it only happens at certain RPM's I would look for a loose heat shield over the exhaust pipes. Have someone apply the throttle until the rattles begins and listen under the car with a long screwdriver or a yardstick. Use the screwdriver to push on the various shields surrounding the manifold and pipes until the rattle stops. then use a hose clamp or two to tighten them up.
Also I see a lot of catalytic converters that become loose internally and rattle around inside it.
The only cure for that is to replace the converter.
If this rattle is an internal engine noise you should have an experienced mechanics ears give you an opinion.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Rattle from the front at low speed, think is from brake pads

Many times the spring clips, also known as anti-rattle clips are left out or broken, this will cause a rattle in the wheel area, this was the case on my Corvette after the brakes were done by the used car lot were I gought the car, I put a screw driver through the wheel spoke and pushed the pad up and down, it should not move easily.
