I have replaced Mass-air-flow & fuel pump but the issue still exist. Car won't start..., I beleive the "Reduced Power" gage light is my clue to solving this issue..., I know what is not the issue but need to find the real cause why my engine won't crank..., don't tell me it's the fuel pump cause even my mechanic admitted the new fuel pump didn't provide the necessary "FIX" . . . , the Dealer wants too much to inspect my car and I'm currently unemployed & can't afford their price...., PLEASE share with me if you have ever had this issue with the "Reduced Power" gage light on your Saturn. Thanks!

Try pulling the engine coolant temp sensor, They often crack not sure why but the ceramic tip cracks makes the car hard to start, or won't start, the car's idle may race while shifting gears, and often smokes. The sensor is on the right side of the engine when looking at it on the head. Easy to change and get too

SOURCE: reduced power light came on

reduced power messge is not caused by oil pressure. i assume this a 3.0L v6. this engine has a electronic throttle body which is a electric motor that operates the throttle plate that takes the place of a throttle cable. in cold weather the pcv (positive crankcase venelation) system accumulates moisture that will form on the throttle plate, in cold weather the water freezes and causes throttle plate to stick. when the ecm detects any malfunction whithin the throttle control circuit it is put in to reduced power mode that limits throttle position. usually resets after ign. is cycled. there is a service bullitin to re-position pcv hose behind throttle plate to reduce moisture bulid-up on throttle plate. your saturn dealer can perform this service.

SOURCE: reduced power for real!!!!

I had the same thing happen to me yesterday. Sitting at a light, went to accellerate and would barely move. The same lights came on for me too. I had it towed to the Saturn dealership and they tell me it's the computer control for the transmission. It's going to cost me in excess of $950.00 to replace. I did a little research and apparently this is an ogoing problem with 2003 Vues.

Why does one of six cylinders have compression after I changed timing belt on 2000 Saturn LW2.

You probably have the cylinders 180°out of sync with the valves, and yes you probably bent the valves trying to start it.

I have a 2000 saturn lw2 wagon i have replaced the fuel pump twice in less than 2 months. just curious what could be causing that

you should replace fuel filter, if you did and even so you still have problem, then you have to check voltage to fuel pump and look for short circuits in ground, hope this helps

We changed the fuel pump & fuel filter on a 2000 Saturn LW and it is still sputtering and backfiring. Could that have thrown the timing off?

No, there is valve timing which is position of the valves in relation to the position of the pistons and ignition timing which means when the spark occurs during the compression stroke. Neither of those are affected by replacing a fuel pump or filter. You should have a mechanic look at it before you replace any more parts. Labor can be expensive, but so is replacing parts and still having the same problem.

Ok i got a 2002 saturn vue..code was saying bank 1 bank 2 running lean..the vue runs perfect ,sometime at park it would idle hi.anyways i have replaced the mass air flow unit..turn off light, comes back on...

I had exactly the same problem .Mine was corrected with replacing the O2 sensors .The sensors cost less than $30 each but cost about 20 mins labor per sensor .So if you got an honest mechanic the total cost will be around $130 .

2001 Saturn

Fuel problems are usually fairly consistent and not intermitent, replace fuel and filters anyway if it's near it's service interval. I think this thing is injected, but I doubt there is a problem with injectors ... again most fuel problems (unless it's the fuel pump) don't come and go.
Your username is dieselhuffer, in the states we don't have saturn diesels, so I am assuming your saturn is a gas engine.  I would concentrate on the ignition system,  ignition box, high power coil(s), wires (it's probably not these).  Buy your mechanic friend the Haynes (about $20 from amazon, parts store or haynes.com) manual for your car, and have him go though the ignition system diagnosis portion of the manual.  I'll bet you a pint it's an ignition problem.
The bad news, intermitent problems are hard to find.  The (sort of) good news is, it will probably get worse to the point that the thing won't run at all, making diagnosis much easier.  Hopefully you'll find the problem before you pull out much of your hair.
good luck,
