Replaced the back catilatic converter, engine light still on. Then was told it was the sensors, had dealer ck it out and said it was the catilatic converter and to take it back to previous place. found out there are 2 cats and now told it is the front cat and manifold is cracked. I dont want to spend more money unless I know what it is and dont want to replace everything trying
I experienced the same. Rather than replace costly cats I tried to change gas to highest octane - and voila! - all lamps get off.

Most muffler shops can use a generic converter and weld the required inlet and outlet to it. Costs way less this way.

The Cat code could have cleared itself if the computer doesn't detect a problem anymore. Fix the EGR problem as it is still active.

A muffler shop should be able to replace just the converter
