1990 Plymouth Voyager won't turn over

Thought it was the battery. Put charger on overnight. Started it in morning for a little bit. Turned off. Tried again later in afternoon. Nothing. The starter doesn't even make a sound. Charger is on it again overnight. Help me please.

SOURCE: 98 PLYMOUTH GRAND VOYAGER WONT START - BLOWS ENG FUSE - HELP

You have a shorted engine harness, this is not common but it does happen, heat and engine movement cause damage to the harness, this is most common on hi miler cars and vans, the only way to fix it is to start by looking anywhere the harness rubs, that is where the damage occurs.

My plymouth, voyager turns off while I'm driving it down the road..

Just an Idea. When it dies next time check the relay temperatures, if you can. Once I had a fan relay which would over heat and the radiator fan would not work. After relay cooled down it would work(This usually happened when I was stuck in traffic). Could be a fuel pump relay. If relay is a lot hotter than the other relay could be bad relay. My thought is it will not cost you anything to try it. I think it may be something electrical over heating. 30 years ago my thought would have been the coil, when the coil started going bad it would heat up and the car would die till it cooled off.

MY PLYMOUTH GRAND VOYAGER 'S HEADLIGHT'S AND DASH LIGHTS WORK, BUT THE ENGINE WON'T TURN OVER. THERE IS NO SPARK COMING FROM THE ELECTRICAL WIRES.

When you say no spark, are you talking about the spark plugs, or just the general wiring?

If the engine won't turn over, then it isn't moving, and if it isn't moving then you need to check the following in this order:

1) Does the battery have power i.e. around 12.4 volts or over? No? Charge, test or replace battery.

2) Do the car's head lights dim considerably if turned on when attempting to crank? Yes? Possible lack of battery charge or faulty battery.

3) Assuming the battery is fine, can you turn the dash warning lights on and off with the key? No? Faulty ignition switch.

4) Is there a click sound when you turn the key, but no starter motor spin? Check starter motor connections or replace starter motor.

If none of the above prove to be of help, then please report.

I replaced my steering column in my 98' Plymouth

It sounds like it's possibly an incompatability with options between the old and new components. Does your van have the security feature on it? If so, you may need to ensure that your replacement steering column comes from a vehicle that also had the security feature on it. Sounds a bit lame, but these things are so inter-wired with various components that replacing parts without the same options on it simply won't work.
