Could be that the plugs are now gas fouled. i would try replacing plugs or holding the gas petal to the floor while cranking. just be careful not to over rev the engine should it start up. Also check to see if you left anything unplugged by mistake. good luck

Hook up a fuel pressure guage. Now with the key on and engine off does the fuel pressure come up fast and hold steady at a fixed value?

  • Anonymous Dec 29, 2008

In your post what you are calling a pressure valve is called a "Schrader Valve". You truck doesn't have one. To check fuel pressure you attached a fuel pressure gauge directly to the fuel rail via the proper fuel pressure adaptor. Also stop using starter fluid, it damages the engine, use carburetor cleaner instead.

    Your quote appears below.

(Quote) went and rented a gauge today found the schrader valve with key on pressure reads 55PSI and like that it drops to 20 PSI.

Sounds like it could be a bad fuel pump to me.

    Before you change it:

Make sure its not a voltage issue. A bad connection at the pump could be making it lose some voltage. If for example the pump is getting 10 volts instead of 12 that would cause it to pump less fuel. That could account for the drop to 20 psi.

Make sure the fuel filter is not clogged.

Make sure the sock screen at the pump hasn't collapsed or is not clogged.

Check with the dealer to see if there's an upgraded wire connector for the pump.

What does code 32 mean on a 95 chevy blazer?

Code 32 for a 95 Blazer with fuel injection means there is a problem in the EGR circuit. Most likely this is caused by carbon particles preventing the EGR valve to close. When servicing the EGR, use one of the new gaskets available with a screen installed. It will help prevent future clogs.

When you changed the egr valve did you clean out the carbon build up inside the intake? if not that could be the problem, if you did, than a peace of the carbon got stuck in the valve, either way your local auto parts store sells a screaned gasget for the egr valve to prevent peaces of carbon from the intake geating into the egr valve, same exact thing happend to me on my 95 blazer.

Truck running sluggish

Replace the fuel filter and clean the MAF sensor with MAF cleaner. Just fallow the instrction to the MAF cleaner. The other thing to is the 1995 4.3 is know to have the EGR valve getting sluggish due to carbon build up. Remove the EGR valve and use Carb cleaner on it to remove the EGR valve and make sure it moves freely. Good luck and hope this helps.

Where is the location for code 1406 96 chevy blazer 6 cylinder. we are getting a whistling or like an air exhale when presing the gas. The computer that we put to it stated the code 1406. We have found in...

P1406 is a EGR problem on the gm products, P1406 is a vent hose disconnect to the axle on the ford products. The PCM does not know where the EGR pintle is. This can cause poor running and bad idle. About the only thing that you can do is remove the EGR, clean it and carefully inspect the plug and connections on the valve its self. If that does not solve the problem then its time for a new one. Look at the wiring harness to the valve for crushed / cut wire also. It is possible to bench test the valve but it does require a good multimeter. Good luck and hope this helps. Use a carb cleaner to get the carbon out of the EGR valve
