I tried to start the car and the lights come on the dashboard but it doesn't start - just a couple of clicks. There is an outline of a car on the dashboard and what looks like the rear wheel on the diagram is illuminated green and the two front wheels are flashing green. Is this the immobilizer or is it something else? Thanks
SOURCE: right rear wheel has rubbing and grinding noises, as on cast iron
My advise is to adjust the rear brakes. The drum should not move in a side to side fashion. adjusting the brakes will also more than likely take care of that anti lock brake light also. adjust the brakes up to where the rear wheel will spin but you should be able to hear the brake show dragging slightly on the drum.

just go to the fuse box in the engine compartment and look for the (red 1Oamp) tail light fuse... it might be broken just replace and that should solve your problem.

disconnect the neg battery terminal for 30 sec leave drivers door open, reconnect and start your car, if the alarm turns on after conecting battery use your key in the drivers door and unlock

The batteries and the alternator are new. The lights work and the central locking. I put jump leads on and nothing happened.
maybe its your starting motor or a neutral switch it s not your fuseable link cause if that goes youget nothing what i would do if your confident enough is bridge the starter at starter connections see does it turn over
A friend of mine had a quick look at the car yesterday. This is what he said: "I would say the fault lies somewhere within the area of the starter motor or it's connections but I have not been able to prove this definitively. It's possibly more likely to be a connection fault, because the headlights don't dim when the ignition key is turned, (if the starter motor was faulty I would expect to see the headlights dim initially). The earth straps that I could see are solid, although, I couldn't get underneath the vehicle for a proper look at the starter motor and it's connections / earth connection and I didn't have my tools to support the vehicle. I would have to come back to check that it's receiving 12.5 volts and that the earth is good. The alternator connections are good and it wouldn't affect the starter circuit anyway. It's not the batteries as they each have a green indicator light and enough charge to activate the starter motor. It's not the pre-start solenoid that charges the glow plug circuit, it clicks on and off and I electrical tested it. I doubt the radio / audio wires poking out are the cause. I doubt it's the immobilizer from what you've told me, and I would have thought it would immobilize more of the electrical system. The 2WD / 4WD lights in the dashboard don't appear to be blinking anymore, which I believe is correct. You need to rule out that it's not a sensor fault, particularly if the vehicle has been unused for some time. I've experienced sensor faults on other vehicles and they can cause ignition and electrical problems. You'll need a mechanic with a diagnostic computer to interrogate the ECU. This would diagnose where the fault lies anyway. I'll try and get back to test the starter motor with the meter in the next day or so." I will give him your advice and let you know what happens. Thanks :)
check to se are you getting 12 volts to starter wire while someone turn ing key to start position .also make sure you have a good ground going to engine also could be a neutral switch goodluck hop ya solve it
Sounds simlpe, but try jump starting your car! I've fully recharged batteries in the pass only to reconnect them to the car and have the same problems that you've mentioned. Hours later I thought to try and jump start the car from my jeep, it worked. The clicking nose is the solenoid and nothing to do with the immobilizer.
