What i find common is the parking brake handle slides up over time covering the release button and not allowing the park brake to go down. can you push the button with your fingertip while pulling up on the handle and release the park brake? if so you can tap the handle to the rear with out hitting the button. protect the button with a socket or use a block of wood next to the button. don't hit the button.

1990 civic will not release from park. Brake lights are working and I checked the shift unlock solenoid and it is functional. What else could it be? I've checked all fuses and they are all good.

The lock pin is sticking in the shifter.

You have to have power to the brake switch and the key switch to release the park solenoid.
There is an 80amp fuse and a 50amp fuse that powers the key switch.
Have you checked them to see if they have power ?

I have a 97 honda civic dx the right hand bottom ball joint break causing the cv axle to break i replaced both and tried the car but the car wouldnt move so i put a new cluth in the car still wont mov

if you can raise front of vechicle wheels off the ground with transmission out of park if you can turn one wheel and the other wheel turns there is no tranmsmission internal damage to the final drive gear.if you put in new clutch need adjust clutch.if clutch mastercylinder dry or low on fluid you need to add brake fluid bleed the air hydralic clutch system.

1998 honda civic lx drivers side rear emergency brake cable spring is very loose

Remove the screw covers, screws and parking brake trim cover.
Turn the adjuster as needed to attain the proper adjustment.

Make sure the brakes do not drag when the parking brake lever is released.

Reinstall the trim cover.
Depress the pedal 2 notches.
Tighten the adjusting nut at the pedal assembly until the rear brakes just begin to drag when rotated.
Release the parking brake lever and check that the wheels do not drag when turned. The parking brake should engage in 3-5 notches when a force of 66 lbs. (294 Nm) is applied to the parking brake pedal.
Lower the vehicle
