The "problem" was caused by the "valet" switch (actually a pretty cool option). I read the owner's manual - there is a valet toggle switch located in the glove compartment. As instructed, I turned the valet switch option from "ON" to "OFF".....everything started working properly (including the remote garage door opener - which I forgot to mention also was not working). Simple, easy fix didn't cost one dime! Pays to read the owner's manual and any signs in the vehicle. The information is posted right on the switch panel!

All of these body control functions are run by one central electonic module, it is called the BCM, this stands for "Body Control Module". The BCM can be tested for loss of function of the systems it controls, this is everything you have problem with, the doors the power windows the mirrors, all of it, this self test is run with a GM electronic system scanner called a "Tech 2". More than likely the BCM has failed, this would be the common problem here, but the the module can't just be replaced, the new module (if one is still available) must be programmed for your cars built in security system and other features you have must be enabled to function properly, so what does this mean? you need to have a GM dealer repair this. If there was another way i would be glad to share it with you.

If you would remove the door panel again, with the window rolled up, inspect the piece of linkage that is attached to the lock cylinder. It is held to the lock cylinder by a clip, then follow it down to where that same piece of linkage attaches to the door lock assembly. It is also held in place there by a clip, or at least it should be.
Insert a key in the outside of the lock cylinder and attempt to move the linkage. If there is a restriction, follow the linkage to find out why. It may be that the linkage has dropped off, or it may be the lock mechanism has jammed.
The reason it works from the inside is because a different piece of linkage operates the lock mechanism.
If you would like to contact me again about this or other problems, feel free to do so.

You need to have someone or yoursef check the body control module with a compatible scan tool. Thats where the problem you are having resides. It may need a software update or replacement. You can also disconnect the battery for a few minutes, that will cause the BCM to reset and may fix it.
