Question about 2001 Pontiac Grand Am
It could be several different things, one could be the fuel filter, it could be the distributor cap as in you may not be getting any juice to your spark plugs, you will need to remove the distributor cap if you have one and check to make sure it is clean and no damage to it or the prongs inside of it, if you have no distributor then you have seperate coil packs and you might have a bad relay. Also if you have a distributor with a single coil pack feeding into it, the coil pack could be dead therefore causing you to not get any juice to the spark plugs. Check and double check all of your relays, they are located both under the hood and there is another panel inside the car. Also i have seen on some chevrolet models that after you run it completely out of fuel you will have to bleed air out of the fuel rail in the engine compartment you can find the bleeder valve on the intake manifold area, it looks like a tire valve it even works like one, just push on the needle valve and make sure you are not right in front of it, crank on the car again and repeat the process a couple times, if it doesnt start then that aint it. It is most likely in the filter as mentioned above or the distributor, if it has no distributor and all relays and fuses are good, check the spark plugs themselves if they get to worn down that could prevent it from starting. I hope this book was helpful and good luck.

I just had the same problem, the shop could put 12 v on the fuel pump and it would work. They found that the fuse block was shorted and caused ECM to have burnt components. Had to replace the fuse block and the computer.

Is the security light active? If yes it will have to get reprogrammed by the GM dealer as GM has this as a propriatory system... Meaning no one else can work on it.
