1999 Acura RL check engine light code 0401 EGR valve insufficient flow and code 0420 Catalytic conveter inefficient

How much would it cost to replace the EGR valve and the CAT Converter.

Sounds like a bad egr valve.

    My mechanic checked the EGR valve and cleaned it. There is a code for bad EGR valve and it said it's not bad just the flow. Thanks.

Possibly problem with the catalytic converter beginning to clog up and restrict exhaust flow but I don't see how that would directly affect EGR sensor. Well good luck with it

there is a egr passage in the intake manifold that is clogged and needs to be drilled out. if you want to bring to acura or honda dealer they can drill it out and put in a wider passage pipe. they have a kit for this problem

that does not mean that the egr is bad maybe its solenoid a electric control or vacuum hose controlling the egr, or an exhaust pipe connect it to it. that code means that egr for some reason is not working the way have to work.

99 acura code p1491
Code P1491 in Honda/Acura vehicles means insufficient EGR valve lift. Note - this is not the same as 0401 for EGR low flow when you have to clean EGR passage in the intake manifold. If code 1491 is not accompanied with 0401 - that could be faulty EGR valve itself. Try to reset the code, and if it will return soon - replace EGR valve. If, however you see both codes together - cleane the manifold passage before you replacing the valve.

Check light on,problem shows on p 0401
P0401-Insufficient flow in the exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR-valve). Check your gas cap for cracked seal, check EGR valve (make sure all vacuum hoses aren't leaking), check also VSV (vacuum switching valve) for proper operation. Its best to get an owner's manual or an experienced mechanic to diagnose!!hopefully this helpd

1999 plynouth grand voyager was coding egr replace
just because the check engine light is back on, it doesn't necessarily mean it is for the same problem. it could be, but would need to pull codes again to find out what its for. literally hundreds of different codes could turn on check engine light. also, was original code for "insufficient egr flow" or "excessive egr flow"? it makes a difference.

Low flow Egr check engine light
You need to pull your plenum and more than likely the intake and clean out the vaccum port in the intake where the egr pipe connects to the back of the intake.Not sure if you can do it with just pulling the plennum or not though.Having the same prob with my 96 rl.Keeps kicking the insufficient flow to egr valve code at about 30 miles.
