I have a 1991 Toyota 4runner with no running lights. The highbeams work but the headlights/running lights don't work. Is it a fuse or a bigger problem?

SOURCE: my headlights only work on highbeam.

Yes there is a relay switch that allows the low to high beam switch to occur. It shoud be mounted under the hood along the firewall. Check your manual too!

Thanks,

Mark

SOURCE: My left headlight highbeam light works and the lowbeam don't why

the filament on the low beam burnt out. but the high beam didn't. You have a filament for each. 1 for high beam and 1 for low beam in the same light bulb. You need a new head light.

SOURCE: 1991 Toyota Camry, tail lights and dash lights don't work

Have you looked under the hood? There are more fuses under the hood. Is your dimmer turned down on your dash lights?

SOURCE: my 1991 toyota 4runner keeps blowing the efi fuse

Check the EFI main relay, the circuit opening relay, and the fuel pump relay. Inside the fuel pump relay there is a switch controlled by a coil. During start, the fuel pump gets full power for a couple of seconds to build up pressure. Once pressure is good, the fuel pump relay is supposed to switch (via the coil) the fuel pump to reduced power. If the coil in the relay is bad, the reduced power setting is not available and the fuel pump will run at full power all the time. At this heavy current draw, it won't be long until the EFI fuse blows. This would also give more pressure than is necessary to the cold start fuel injector which runs on a timer. This extra pressure during the time that the cold start injector is operating may be the reason the engine is flooding with fuel.

Under your clutch there is a switch. That switch might need replacing. The auto parts store calls it a breaklight switch. And no, headlights haveva relay.

Headlights not working

The new headlights, probably blew the fuse check the fuse and relay if so get a bigger fuse to run the new headlights. Remember when replacing any light in your vehicle to not touch the glass part of the bulb with your bare fingers..

Passanger headlight doesn't work. Brand new lightbulb no luck, fuses are good. what could be the problem

Hi,
Look under the hood for a fuse panel. There should be a diagram on the lid that shows HeadLight Relays. If there is one for the left and right, try swapping them - WITH THE KEY OFF. If that changes the light that works, then either the dealer or an auto parts store should have the relay.

It's also possible the headlight harness is bad - they can overheat and melt. Verify there is no damage to the harness wired from the headlight to the fuse panel under the hood.

If you also lost the light dimmer and highbeams, you may have a short in your wiring, or the 'stalk' on the steering wheel is bad.

How can i test a headlight relay?

I don't have a diagram of the circuit so I can't give you wire colors.
The relay should have a diagram on the side of it showing the pins.
One pin is power to the relay magnet, the other is ground for the magnet. The magnet closes a switch which is power for the headlights and the wire to the headlight fuses.
You would jumper the power in and out for the headlights to bypass the relay - or use a test light to see if you are getting the right voltage on each pin. If you ground the relay with a test light the relay magnet should close the switch.

My headlights have quit working on my 1994 Chevy 1500 pickup. I replaced the headlight switch but they still don't work. The parking lights come on but not the headlights

Try checking both a; your fuses, and b; check your bulbs. You should have two fuse boxes, one under hood and one in or under the dash. Check those for bad, blown or weak fuses. And check your headlights bulbs for them being good and their connection. If this doesn't fix your problem, you may check out your highbeam switch.

DRL works all the time...turn lamp switch on ..don't get brighter...and highbeams don't work.

The DRL's are separate from the actual headlights. It sounds like your headlights aren't working at all. The first thing I would check would be the headlight fuse(s), or relay(s). The location for these should be in your owner's manual.

Hope this helps!

Dash and tail lights stopped working on my daughters 1991 toyota celica gt. the fuse has been checked and replaced. it was ok. the headlights were recently changed. is it true the dash and tail lights run...

If the tail lights and the dash lights stopped working and the tail light and the panel lighting fuses are both o.k. and you can find no other blown fuses then the problem is most likely the headlight switch.
