I need to drain the radiator so i can flush and refill to see if i can use stop leak or see if i need a new radiator, i know vertually nothing about car machanics aside from what ive learned from previous vehicles. ive located the drain valve plug, but do i turn it clockwise? counter clockwise? philips or flat head? i have removed the 2 hoses from radiator....
You don't. You never open the petcock on radiators with plastic tanks because the petcock always breaks. If it doesn't break, it'll leak when you close it. No pro ever uses the petcock. You loosen the lower radiator hose clamp and yank the lower radiator hose. You'll take a bath, but it'll all be drained in about 1.5 mins. Then reconnect. You'll actually drain far more coolant that way too.

Hi There, Facing the engine there is a drian on the lower lefthand side of the radiator. it has a wingnut like head that turns counter clockwise one full turn and the fluid will drian out right below the suport. But be carefull number one its plastic, two it is very hard two get too, I had cut a grove aceoss a 8 mm socket to put over the wingnut shaped pedcock so i could turn it it is almost imposable two get a wrench on it. and three when I was done and closed it, I could not stop a slow slow drip about every 15 sec, My sug is two remove the lower radator hose on the right side, to drain it when its all done and said you wont have this drip problem. If any one knows how to stop that drip out of the plasic pedcock let me know. Thanks

the hoses from the transmission to the gadiatro is leaking. The timing cover might be leaking but acording to what I found from www.autozone.com the waterpump is not behing the timing cover. the hose coming off of the waterpump is leaking. If this helps this is how you remover the waterpump.

If you dont see a white plastic hex nut or black plastic butterfly nut, anywhere on the bottem side you will need to undo the lower radiator hose. Sorry, messy but true.
