I pulled into the parking lot, I came to a complete stop, shifted into park, and turned the car off like i always do. When i pulled my key out and went to get out of my car, my car began to coast forward! (even though it was in park!) I quickly put my foot on the break pedal and tried to move the shifter to make sure it was fully in park but the shifter doesn't move and it is stuck in park. I tried to start my car but it won't even turn over. I pulled the ebreak to get it to not coast. My car doesn't start, it doesn't shift out of park, and it coasts when it's in park without the ebreak. Any help?
I'm going to say something happened to the cable between the shifter and the transmission. There is a switch on the transmission that prevents you from starting the engine in anything other than park or neutral. The transmission is probably in reverse or drive which would allow it to roll.
Someone would need to check the lever on the trans where the shift cable is attached.

have you tried wiggling the steering wheel?
while trying to turn the key, try to wiggle the steering wheel. sometimes, the lock to the steering wheel is preventing the key to turn.

Thanks for the solutions everyone. The culprit was a lot simpler and made me feel like a dork. The positive terminal battery cap fell off and was jamed in the shifting linkage. Took my dad 2 mins to see that.
