SOURCE: How to Replace the AC filter on my Lexus 01 LX 470

Perform steps 1-3 first to inspect whether you have the access doors or not before ordering filters!!!

Did this little project this evening. Figured I'd write it up.

5 Easy steps:

1. Remove glove box door by removing both screws at the bottom of the door.

2. First pop the the little flap with a fuse/relay out of the black plastic shield in the upper portion of the glove box opening. Next push it back behind the shield through the opening. Next remove the 3 screws holding the shield in place. Don't pull this shield out yet!! Read step 3 first.

3. Gently pull the shield out. Be careful because the glove box light is still plugged into this part. It is located on the right side of the shield. Once it is pulled out slightly, unplug the bulb from the harness and now you can fully remove the part.

4. Now you can see the vertical cover where the air filters reside. The cover is about 5 inches tall and about 1 inch wide. It has 2 tabs on the upper portion of the cover. Squeeze these tabs towards each other and pull the cover off.

5. The filters are now exposed. They are stacked on top of each other. Pull the first filter out then lift the next filter up and pull out. Put new filters back in and reverse the procedure.

Parts needed:
2 Cabin air filters (Toyota PN 88568-60010 if you drop CDan a pm)
1 Phillips screw driver

Time needed:
No more than 15 minutes

SOURCE: how to remove '0 lx-470 radio

Remove wood console panel using 2 flathead screwdrives but be careful not to crack wood (be patient). Pry on the edges evenly and you'll notice it pop out. Once removed there should be several 10mm screws exposed. Remove them and have a box handy to put the screws and bolts in so you don't lose them. Pull out radio and unplug wire harness. I have an after market DVD monitor and DVD player in my LX470. I like it much better than the stock radio. You should consider after market it's much cheaper than the Nakamichi radio and easier to replace in the future.

SOURCE: 2000 lx 470 driver door panel

You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. If needed, you can pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything inside the door

SOURCE: lexus lx 470, low suspension fluid, effecting

Is the suspension fluid low. If it is, try first to add specific Suspension Fluid for LX470. It is part number 08886-01805 and any Lexus Dealer would be able to look up. Cost about $ 30 it comes in 2.5 Liters. If driving at higher speeds it is normal for it to drop just a bit and resume to balanced height when parked.

Radio shuts off after 5 seconds

I'm not sure what radio option you have in your vehicle or if you have any aftermarket equipment installed to interface radio functions or operations. But if it is the Mark Levinson set up, the software that controls the the function that you are having problems with, is possibly corrupted and radio may need to be reprogrammed at the dealer with new updates/calibrations so it can stay in communication with radio amplifier and all other options including the HVAC system controls. For being a 01' model, this car was way ahead if its time!

Heater on 1999 lx 470 will not blow hot air only warm at highest setting.

If you are not getting any warm air in the car, you are most likely going to find that your engine cooling system is low on coolant. With the engine COLD, remove the filler cap on the coolant resevoir, and look to see if the fluid is up to the "FULL COLD" line. If it is not, you need to have the entire cooling system looked at to see if you have a leak in the system. Because coolant in a sealed system doesn't just disappear!

My 2006 LX470 seems to have a music-loving ghost. The CD & radio will turn itself on and the CD will switch to radio & vice versa. This has happened 8-10 times in the past month. Any thoughts?

The Phantom rides in style......Awesome vehicle
Sounds like an internal fault in the audio switching, check your warranty, since that LX might still be under the 4 years and if so get to a dealer ASAP.
You could go online to Lexus owners club at Lexus .com and search the issue too. Never heard of this one but the LX is a niche market so I don't see tons of them....Is yours a Mark Levinson sound system? It will say on the dash.

How do i mark my timing belt and take it off while doing a head gasket job on a 91 honda accord lx

put it at top dead center, also when you remove the cover rotate until mark on crank gear lines up with mark on oil pump housing ,it right behind the gear, also you will see notches on the cam gears and the rear cover those should also line up when crank gear is aligned, sometime marks on cams are 180 degrees off which just means crank has to be turn one more time, then double mark gears that all, good luck.
