Is there an adapter that can be used on a car cigarette lighter for plugging in appliances?

My cigarette lighter outlet in my Kia Rio 2004 is an odd shape and I cannot plug a GPS device into it, is there an adapter that can be used to make it possible for the device to be plugged in?

Your best bet is to check on eBay for an adapter - the Asians make all sorts of stuff for cars now & i'm sure there is an adapter out there suited for your purposes. P.S. It may sound silly but are you sure you are using the actual cigarette lighter socket & Not a power outlet socket that many cars are now fitted with as standard?, my phone charger fits the cigarette socket but not the power outlet?, you never know?

SOURCE: gear box oil filler plug - kia rio 2004

you have to take off the speedometer cable/wiring harness from the top of the trans and fill it from there....one 10mm bolt...very awkward spot...it might be snug, so just take a flat head screwdriver from underneath to tap it loose...

SOURCE: 2004 Kia Rio turns over but won't start.

These are coil packs, the most likely problem will be the crank sensor,or the cam sensor, these are what trigger the pulse for spark, and injector pulse.

Fix the cigarette lighter in kia rio 2002

You need a wiring diagram for that component. I would chech both the engine and cabin fuse locations and check all fuses. Then check the lighter with a test light

How do you replace the cigarette lighter compartment on a Kia Rio 2004?

a standard lighter socket can be replaced as long as you have the tools required to do it usually they are held in place with spring clips indie the socket, these need to be pressed out with circlip pliers, then the back needs getting at to remove a plastic nut that holds the unit in place, a replacement can be bought at any auto store (take one of your components with you to make sure it fits before you buy it) then replacement is a reversal of removal. N.B. This is a generic solution , for the exact solution check your owners manual or a haynes manual.

on the fuse box lid, there is NO fuse listed for cigarette adapter. As all OEM outlets are fused, I suspect it located somewhere else. I wanted to find out where that was at.. anyone??

I have a 1999 Buick Century. When I plug my GPS power adapter into the cigarette lighter outlet, I blow the fuse. ---Can you suggest a solution? ---How many amps are in that...

Probably a 15 to 20 amps..If you use the cigarette lighter does it also blow the fuse ,you may have a short in the circuit..It should be able to handle the GPS..Dont increase the fuse size, you can cause bigger problems

Son plugged ac/dc adapter into accessory plug and it sparked and afterwards cigarette lighter and accessory plug does not work anymore. Thinking maybe fuse but don't have manual to know where fuses are....

I always use a test light and check them all. Usly faster then looking up which fuse it is. Here is a diagram of fuse block anyhow. CIG stands for cigarette lighter.08b0868.png

Is the cigarette lighter also the plug for cell phone charger?

The cigarette lighter plug should also work for the phone charger as long as the phone charger uses the cigarette lighter style plug(long with two metal contacts on the sides and a button contact on the tip). Most standard car chargers will fit both cigarette and auxillary style plugs.

Cigarette front lighter is not working in my 2001Saab

Check ALL the fuses. pull them out an dlook. Also repace the one that is power for the dash/rradio/etc... even if it looks good.
If that doe snot fix it then pull the lighter out and test the wire going to it for power. If it has power then you might have a bad plug/ground. Replace outlet if so.

2003 Jetta VR6 fuse question

you will have to look in your owner's manual or remove the fuse panel cover and it may be labled there, with a position number. you will have to look at the position of the diagram either in the book or on the cover then orientate as you look at the fuse box itself. sometimes they lable the fuses with a number under neath each fuse to give it's location. And yes, I don't see why you can't use a charger for your ipod in the cigarette lighter. it should work just fine, people use that for car chargers for cell phones, and lots of other things. if you don't smoke then you don't need to buy an adapter that has one plug on one end to go into the lighter hole and gives you 2 that you can plug things into it...it's called a two in one adapter.
