2006 Chev Cobalt won't crank...no lights, no sounds nothing. When tried to get the key out it won't go past the ACC position? Any ideas on the problem?

Went to crank the car and nothing happened. It won't crank, NO lights work and there is no sounds coming from car. Everything dead. Then when I tried to get the keys out of the ignition they wouldn't go past the ACC position. I read on here how to get the keys out, but when I tried again, still nothing in the way of cranking or life at all. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Is the battery dead? Check your battery condition and connections. Check your starter fuse from there. Check the connection to the starter then progress to the ignition side of the concern

2006 Chevy Cobalt SS. How to get past the antitheft system on it please.

A nice simple answer, you can't. Think of it this way, the car doesn't know you are the owner, and it is there to stop exactly what you are trying to do. You have two computer ECM and BCM, plus the antitheft module and a number of sensors all trying to stop you. All you have to do is the re-learn procedure. Plan B is an auto electrician or alarm / radio installer or auto locksmith.

30 Minute Re-Learn Procedure
  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON (vehicle will not start).
  3. Observe the SECURITY telltale, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF.
  4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds .

2006 cobalt will not crank I have replaced battery , starter checked all fuses and relays and ran security relearn procedure

Does it click or try to crank when you turn the key? If nothing happens it could be a faulty safety switch (clutch or park on an automatic) or the ECM (electronic control module)

2006 Cobalt LS Coupe Intermittent Starting Problem

sounds about right, probably is ignition switch, reason you don't get codes is because if power is'nt connecting to engine while problems occurs then ecm won't pick it up. you should have 2 ignition switches, (the lock cylinder and key switch, the other is the electrical, usually located under the dash, and commonly atttatched to the column close to the firewall, check connections first, it may just be a loose plug in connection

I FOUND A SPRING IN MY WINDOW AT THE BOTTOM 2006 COBALT

I have seen a spring on the window regulator which helps raise the window. Don't know about GM products made in the past 10 yrs.
You might look at a regulator at the dealer and see if it has one and if it looks like what you saw.

Ignition is stuck in run position

does your key stays in the ignition position? or can you turn it back to acc or lock? it might be a stuck ignition switch mechanism inside or a shorted circuit that latches the ignition...have it checked or you can try to open it the switch yourself..but with caution if this is your first time. Pls give me a feedback. thanks!

Car wont start, battery i believe is still good

Hi!
This is a good indication that your battery has a bad cell (or more) and needs replacement. Funny you should mention it but the exact same thing happened to me this week, so I had the dealership check the battery (as the car is still under warranty) and at first, when I had just arrived, the battery checked out "good". I explained that I had just ran for over 30 minutes at 70Mph, so it would have charged up some. They left the acc on, turned on the lights and the radio, waited for a mere 3 minutes, and then tried to start the vehicle. This time, the vehicle did the clicking sound and did not crank. When they checked the battery again, the tester showed the battery was only 10.7 volts (should be 12v or above, most of the time reads closer to 14v...)

Hope that helps...
