How to replace door lock 2009 honda civic - 2009 Honda Civic

Hey .. i have a 99 civic also and i found my door doesnt lock unless u open the handel and then lock it and was talking to the shop and they told me things get gumed up inside and take it apart and clean it up with lub .. try that see if it works sounds like same problem

If there is nothing jammed in the barrel, you will need to pull apart the lining of the interior of the door, disconnect the power motor for that switch, then see if it locks by key, sounds like the motor is seized, of out of allignment, easily fixed with a second hand or reco motor, or witha simple adjustment. you have a bad lock actuator the locking & unlocking is built into the actuator

I usually get a haynes manual for this problem it will tell you the proper tools and procedure with out needing an automechanic standing by your side pep boys or your local auto store should sell these manuals hope this helps

you must carefully pop off the door plastic clips using a screwdriver and prying gently until they pop out , also remove the screws under any small round plastic screw cover inserts and in the plastic door handle area
