Engine light stays on and it wont go away. been to mechanics and everything fine, they reset the warning light and 5mins down the road its back on. I want to sell the car and want to know how to disable it.
100% get to a mechanic and get the code which is making it come on our 2003 Barina does the same and its the AFM Air flow Meter and I just replaced it and had it reset and no more code.

Almost any parts store like Autozone will read the codes for you, and then we can tell you better what to do. Often it is just cleaning the mass air sensor, because when it get oil foam on it from the PCV, it does not read correctly. But you have to remove it before cleaning, so you don't get cleaner in the intake manifold. But it could be O2 sensor, etc. We need the ODBII codes.

you need to have the trouble codes checked with a obd2 code reader.
it could be the throttle postion sensor if the car would not accelerate but there is no way to tell for sure until you see what trouble code the vehicle is throwing. most auto parts stores will check them for free. hope this helps

it means its due for service. If u wanna get rid of it without servicing the vehicle then as you start the car simultaneously push the ODOMETER reset button on the dash and it will wipe it. This will however just delay the point your car needs servicing.

Alot of times a voltage drop to the O2 Sensor can cause your check engine light to come on. Even tho the O2 sensor is wrong fine.

Interesting problem.. since not US spec. Is there a 'remote keyless (fob)' programmed for this vehicle? That's the only way to DE-arm the immobilizer (anti-theft) feature (based on US specs). Unless you have this key fob (keyless entry remote... which must also be programmed for this vehicle), the only other way is wait 5 minutes with the existing key in the ignition, then it should start (US specs). You will still need to have an 'ACTIVE' keyless remote programmed for this vehicle... otherwise, you'll continue to run into this problem.
