2002 isuzu rodeo 4 cyl twin electric radiator fans when cold turn igniton on fans run on high speed , it has a brand new battery and the alternater is checked ok it will not run hot and after it runs

Electric radiator fans when cold turn igniton on fans run on high speed , it has a brand new battery and the alternater is checked ok it will not run hot and after it runs it will cycle the fans ok it will run after its cut off for a short while,,which its normal for it as from day one when we bought it,, but after it sits over night it will do this when key is turned on to start it the fans are running on high speed and will not shut off till its driven to work 10 miles after the key is cut off then its ok , then it will cycle normal again after driving it back home 10 miles just over night setting seems to cause it to do that insert key turn on in morn the fans are wide open . thats the problem. what relays do you think might be causing this or is it something else?

Assuming the check engine light is not on, I would want to know what the engine temp sensor is doing.
A scanner would tell you what the temp sensor is showing - if it is unplugged or there is a problem with the wiring the fans will run as a default to prevent the engine from overheating. It could be a fan relay but I doubt it. A relay usually works or not.

Testimonial: "ty stephen the check engine light has been on two years it now goes off when this occurs then the gas guage inside will not show any gas when like i said its driven arouind the 10 miles to work it will stop after its cut off then it will work fine , untill it sets over night it just started this and i did try one new relay to see it ,made no difference , i was told it could be the computer, not the relays as you said probably wasnt the problem, i will more than likely put it in the shop monday afternoon to leave it over night and let them hook it to what ever they do while the key is just tuirned on and both fans run on high with no air on, thank you for you help, Tom~"

Pull your battery cables and hold them together for 3-5 min. this will reset the cpu. Then try it. You could have also gotten some bad gas. Put in some heet and change the filter. this should help.

When you have no spark only it could be the ignition module. when you have no gas delivery only it could be a relay. However when both are missing. It is either your crankshaft sensor or the engine computer. Good luck. also see if the injectors are pulsing.

2004 Venture Chevrolet minivan cooling fan circut

Are you talking about the radiator fan? How hot does the engine get in degrees F? Some makes and models, the radiator fan won't turn on till about 220 degrees F. Check for applicable trouble codes, see if any code that refers to the radiator fan circuit or coolant temp sensor? Some of the national brand auto stores will check codes for free.

Of course, as far as overheating in general, you have the thermostat--water pump and other possible issues. Are you losing coolant?

Why does my 1997 mecedes benz e420 run hot when I turn on the air conditioner

Couple of reasons. You may need to have the Radiator backflushed to remove sediment. You also have an Electric cooling fan which may be malfunctioning. They (fans) often have more than 1 speed and high speed may be broken so it can not keep up with extreme heat.

Some fans use more than 1 relay to switch the fans and the second stage relay may be bad.

Overall, the A/C coil is placed in front of the Radiator and depends on airflow to function. This makes the air available to the Radiator much hotter so the Radiator is having a hard time cooling the engine. The Electric radiator fans kick up the airflow to help both systems out.

A dirty radiator, old antifreeze, etc. can affect performance.

I hope my solution is helpful. Radiator shops can service most Brands.

Check that the water pump drive belt is tight
Check that the cylinder head is not blowing.
Check the impleor on the water pump is not eroded
Check theair flow through the radiator is ok.
Check electric cooling fans operates if fitted.
Are you driving in to low a gear?
Are the brakes draging?
Check to see if you have some contaninated fuel
Check that the correct ignition time is ocurring at all engine speeds.

IT DONT WORK THAT WHY. (on/off)
NO ENGINE STATED, SO on exact answers. 4.0L or 4.7L ???
The engine cooling and HVAC rules govern this (computer tables and logic)
the service manual cover that,
did you SCAN the PCM at the failure then scan it again after, no?
did you know some cars run the fans parked to prevent overheat soak damage to the engine and trans? all have hood sticker warning telling you to stay way from fans, , until fully cooled engine or pull battery neg lug for safety. just saying that so you are safe fiddling all cars.

the fan(s) run via truth tables, logic (computer)
if cold outside why run a fan?, and waste fuel and cause green house gasses for fun. or make noise for fun, answer it doesn't.
it runs the fan ONLY when needed, is the answser
and is very complex, the newer the jeep gets.

On most cars even as old as 1995 , the condensor fan control would stay off if ambient temps are below 50f. this is not new logic.
Chapter 24 covers HVAC. in The service manual SM.
not only that, you failed to test the AC per the SM and failed to scan the PCM to see if there are HVAC faults. causing this fan disablement's. on purpose.
this car come with 2 type HVAC, manual and ATZ (climate control fancy) the rules for each are not the same (potentially)
the PCM controls the radiator fan on the 4.0L with a relay.
so is 100% pure (ATZ/BCM/PCM) logic doing that.
the 4.7L has hydraulic motor powered engine cooling fan
as you many not know the A/C condensor rams hot AIR
to the front of the engine RAD and cause it to overheat
so the engine fan is very much part of this regulation system.
The AC will also shut down for many AC related errors
and will do so if the engine or transmission over heats.
Self preservation.
there are 3 , 4.0L systems, for fan control
clutch fan or electric and one has a PWM modulated fan control module (its a transistor not relay in this case)

her is what chapter 7 states
PWM FAN CONTROL MODULE -
4.0L
DESCRIPTION
The pulse width modulated (PWM) radiator cooling
fan relay is located behind the front bumper fascia
below the right headlamp.
OPERATION
The PWM relay is used to control the speed of the
electric radiator cooling fan. It allows for multiple fan
speeds. This allows for improved fan noise and A/C
performance, better engine cooling, and additional
vehicle power.
PWM relay operation is controlled by the Powertrain
Control Module (PCM). To operate the PWM
relay, the PCM looks at inputs from:
† Engine coolant temperature
† Ambient temperature from the body controller
† Vehicle speed
† Transmission oil temperature
† A/C switch position (A/C request)

the SM does not list all rule and tests for this device.

more..?
here more quotes from your missing book
If an open or shorted condition has developed in
the relay circuit controlling the electric radiator fan
or fan control solenoid circuit controling the hydraulic
fan, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) can be set.
If the problem is sensed in a monitored circuit
often enough to indicated an actual problem, a DTC
is stored. The DTC will be stored in the PCM memory
for eventual display to the service technician.

fans stuck on quotes
1. Fan control sensors inoperative.
1. Check for DTC's. Verify sensor readings.
2. Fan control solenoid stuck 9on9. 2. Check fan operation speeds. Refer to fan
speed operation table.

3. Fan control solenoid harness
damaged.
3. Check for DTC 1499. Repair as required.
4. Transmission temperature too high.
4. Check for transmission over temp. DTC.
5. Engine coolant temperature too high.
5. (a) Check coolant level. Correct level as required.
(b) Thermostat stuck. Replace thermostat.
(c) Water pump failed. Replace water pump.
(d) Coolant flow restricted. Clean radiator.
(e) Air flow over radiator obstructed.Remove
obstruction.

the 4.7 liter engine the fan speed is base on above
and says, A/C system pressures.
the 4.7 then can can run at 500 rpm even when OFF. (SM)

now how to test the fan.
get engine hot, (drive 10miles say)
then park, and lest engine idle until the engine overheats
it will (but not in alaska, dig?)
and then the fans come on at bout 225f .. (about this is ball park)
electric fans
if using a 4.7L say so, its totally DIFFERENT

I have a 96 ford probe and it keeps over heating rad. Is full the over flow is full and just put in a new thermo in it please help

You have an Electric cooling fan. Most cooling fans have 2 speeds and if the high speed is not working, eventually the low speed will not keep up and you will overheat.

The cooling fan depends on Electric relays and a temperature sensor on the motor. This sensor on the motor can be different than the sensor that makes your dash gauge work. Go to Autozone or Orellys for a free scan and view the part you need.

If possible, when the engine is cold take off the Radiator cap and have it tested for the amount of Pressure it will hold before letting the coolant go to the overflow. When the engine is running turn on the heater in case you have an airlock in the water system.

Sould the second radiator fan along with the first?

I would presume you are meaning an electric fan that has two fans together. Both fans dont always run at the same time. One is a high speed fan and the other a low speed fan together in the same shroud. Engine temp determines if and when they turn on. *****CAUTION!!!!! Fans can turn on any time the key is in the on position even if the engine isnt running. Do not put your finger in the fan or handle them unless the Neg (-) battery terminal is disconnected.*****

I have never seen the radiator fan working for

Well the first thing I can tell you is that the radiator fan should kick on as soon as you turn on the a/c. That's because of the extra strain it puts on the engine. So, if you don't see or hear the fan go on with the a/c, it's probably dead. You could also unplug the fan and run a jumper wire off of the battery to see if it goes on.

Air cool when driving, when idling gets warm and car overheats

Take a look through your front grill and see if there is alot of bugs, dirt, etc. blocking the cooling fins of the condensor and radiator. If so try rinsing them with a water hose, or air pressure. Some cleaners work well also, like " Simple Green " or gunk degreaser. Catch the fluid in a container and dispose of properly.
