Does it still have a warranty on it? If so I would use that while you got it, and get it fixed free of charge. There is probably a cosmetic plastic cover hiding the alternator. However if you locate the belts than it will lead directly to the alternator.

Hey Guys, The problem is that the 12V battery is low or dead. Having the battery replaced will fix this issue. (I have the same vehicle, had the same problem, and this was the fix)

I have a 7 pin adapter on my truck and my trailer has a 4 pin adapter, i bought a 7-4 pin adapter and my trailer lights still not working properly
Trailer lamps usually have dual filiments in a single bulb, whereas newer cars have sepaprate bulbs for each function. The two different types do not play well together. Go to a good parts store or u-haul dealer and they can provide a logic box that can fix this issue.

Hello Carol, The 7 way is for use with a brake controller and/or a trailer that has electric brakes. The 4 way flat is a basic trailer plug connector.
Connect as follows:
Green wire- Connects to the vehicles right turn wire harness & provides brake light and right turn signal on trailer.

Yellow wire- Connects to vehicles left turn wire & powers brake light & Left turn signal on trailer

White wire- Ground

Brown Wire- Tail/ marker/ license plate lights

The Blue, Red & Purple wires on the 7 way will not be used on the adapter, those are for brakes.

My new trailer has a 7 pin plug and my 1997 gmc has a 6 pin plug. I will need to change my 6 pin plug out to make my trailer brake work. What is the wiring sequence for a change to 7 pin plug.
buy adapter for 6 to 7 pin any auto store carries the adapters or if u want to change it out the new adapters paperwork will explain the change over

Trailer fuse blows when hooked up
Is your truck wired for a 7 pin flat plug? if so are you using an adapter? The adapters are made differently. One has the center pin as brakes and the other uses the center as Aux. power. Any chance of an animal getting to the wires? They are kown to chew on the wiring. Also try http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx. They have a great website with lots of info.

If you are going from a 4 pin on your trailer to the 7 pin on the truck. You need to go to parts store or a department store (ex Wal Mart) and look in trailer section and find the adapter. Thats what I did. Also Remember if your lights don't work on trailer, check the plug to make sure its tight or check the fuse under your drivers side rear seat for that fuse box.
