Too many problems there to guess at

I assume it isn't your first check light
on any vehicle,so that is a place to start

The overheating is not good at all

Timing Belt Issue,Head Gasket

Has to be diagnosed

That didn't start all at once did it?

SOURCE: i have an 03 nissan altima engine makes loud clicking noise

1st check the the oil level and the vehicle's oil type.(owners manuel) 5w30-10w30
10w 30 is a thicker oil and could possibly be causing this.(Moves more freely through the engine heats the oil)

SOURCE: 2003 Nissan Altima 2.5S, Check Engine Light Problem.

this problem could be caused by the mass air flow censor, i had the same problem with my car. it is really pricey at the dealer so you might want to check elsewhere for this part. I found one at a scrap yard for 85% less that the dealer and i also got life time warranty, the dealer does not offer any warranty on this part.

SOURCE: High Idle

I have a 2001 Nissan Altima and mine did the same thing. We replaced the intake gasket. It costs around $5.50, but it requires several different kinds of tools. We spent over $100 in special sockets, etc. But once you replace that gasket, it will idle better.

Idles smooth, sputters coming from muffler like its running on one cylinder

Hi T:
Interesting as smooth idle and sputter are contra-indications.
- Smooth idle should be healthy
- Sputter could indicate problem:
- mis-fire? Possible bad spark plug or bad exhaust valve. Pull spark plugs to check to see if any are fouled. Compression check will help depermine why fouling is happening.
How many cylinders?
How many Km on engine?
With engine hot, Remove oil filler cap and see if any vapour indicating blow by (bad rings)
My suggestion?
Do some more checking and reply as a comment on this post. Will assist if I can.
Cheers.

2001 altima stalls at intersection or when AC is running and car is hot

No to the high octane gas. Regular gas is fine. Higher octane gas is more resistant to ignition and is better suited for high compression engines to prevent preignition and detonation. Check or replace your idle air control valve since the car stall at idle when the throttle blade is closed. If the IAC is not working it won't allow for air to bypass the throttle plate. Also have your throttle body cleaned.

Change your thermostat,The car is probaly over heating. You keep on driveing it when it does that. You will do serious damage to your engine. Is the check engine light on? Allso any other warniing light. While the car is in operation. Is there guages in the car? If there is keep a eye on your temperture gage if it is going into the hot zone, If it is your vehicle is over heating.

2004 Explorer Replaced Alternator, but car idle still not right, stalls, ck engine light still on. Car lights when dim and then car died. Mechanic said it was the alternator. Alternator replaced. Car...

You need to put a scanner on the truck and see if any codes are set and if so of course repair them and then clear the codes in the computer with the scanner. I would check the idle air control and the throttle position sensor. I would also check the alternator by starting the truck and then taking off the positive battery cable and the truck should continue to run. If not the alternator that was put on is bad.

My cars engine, battery, and oil lights are on. HELP!

well when the car shuts off or stalls your check engine , oil . battery lights are all going to come on the oil light is telling you there is no oil pressure due to the car not running the battery light is going to come on due to the alternator not pushing any juice because the car is not running and the check engine light also now. check under the car and make sure that your moter did not cut,rip or fray any wires comming from the starter area. this could be a big problem and make lights flicker and the car to run funny.
