Question about 2001 Hyundai Sonata

1 Answer

Multiple problems with Hyundai Sonata : 1. Car does not start very often. 2. When it does I have an orange light on the dash showing a car with skid marks. 3.The shifter gets stuck in park sometimes.

1. Car does not start very often. Have to sit there in the blistering Florida heat pushing the button for extended time. 2. When it does start I have an orange light on the dash showing a car with skid marks. 3.The shifter gets stuck in park sometimes. This is a minor problem, only happens twice a week or so. 4. When all the doors have been fully opened (for example returning with groceries) and I shut the trunk after depositing groceries into trunk, the doors inadvertently lock for no good reason. So I have to look for keys again to open the stupid car once again. 5. Air con will not work 100% unless car is in forward motion. Stopped at red light warm air starts to come out of vents. 6. Car pulls to the right.

On your a/c blowing warm air at stops it sounds like radaitor cooling fan not working, fan motor or fan relay most likly cause, light with skid marks sounds like anti=lock brake system problem, possible bad wheel speed sensor, on shifter getting stuck and engine not starting sounds like ignition switch going bad, hope this helps ?

If you have not found the problem yet, check the transmission interlock. Sounds like the shifter interlock switch may not be engaging to allow the starter to activate!

I think it means a lower gear, most vehicles have p,r,d,over drive which is usually in a box, 1,and 2.. 1 and 2 are for driving slower like in snow,or down steep hills.

My car is having A similiar problem. If yours looses power like mine does, I've heard it's a defective stop lamp switch, which there is a recall on, and the dealer will fix for free. The recall ID# 09V122000 number to call listed with recall info #1-800-633-5151

My hyundai sonata 1999 cannot start but their is light in the dash box what will i do

I would jump it or charge up the battery fully (over 3 days if necessary with a trickle charger).

The light on the dash box doesn't mean the car can start, because the starter takes up way more current than the light bulbs in the dash box.

Just bought a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. Sensor Light on drivers side is on entire time car is off, is this a problem?

Yes... it's a problem. There should be NO dash (instrument panel) lights when the key is out of the ignition and all doors are closed. Whichever 'sensor light' you're talking about, it can discharge the battery over night. This issue may still be under warranty.. Take it in for diagnosis/repair.
