As a Ford dealer tech I found this was always caused by the AC compressor cycling switch, it shuts the compressor off when it reaches about 30 PSI, this prevents freeze up and saves fuel, when the system press rises again to about 42 PSI it turns the compressor back on and so on, change the switch, it is located in the low pressure line from the compressor, that is the one that gets cold.

please say you did not get the engine steam cleaned...as you can cost yourself a LOT of money.hopefully the heat will dry things out, otherwise get the car put on a diagnostics machine.

Usually there is a Routing Diagram under your hood somewhere around if you look on the firewall or in front of the engine, But any how hope this picture is the same of what you looking for. Good luck
