SOURCE: ABS BRakes

Check the brake light switch at the pedal. However an overheated/melted bulb base means arcing to me. So, BOTH sockets are probably slightly corroded & rusted. You fix that by scraping the terminals inside the socket with a pocket knife or screwdriver. Clean with alcohol or contact cleaner. If the new bulb isn't tight, and can be moved back and forth by hand, bend the contacts inward slightly, but don't snap them, they are spring steel. I was wondering when somebody would ask this question. I fix them at least to once a month - not the same car, but all GM's, and when fixed, they're good. Use logic if centre safety/brake light works.

The remote start sounds normal. There are many different types and they are quirky.

You should scan for codes with an OBD II scanner. If the problem was in the brake light connections or is fixed at the pedal, erase codes. It could be, by coincidence, and in no relation whatsoever to this problem, that a front wheel bearing sensor has gone - they do that, and require a new hub assembly.

SOURCE: 2003 chev. silverado2500hd, abs goes off, pulsates when stopping

Gm has tech service bulitens on this issue.First the abs sensors can and should be removed, inspect the sensor mounting surface for rust (clean w/ sandpaper) insp the sensor (note the sensor may break w/ trying to remove so be gentlel) if all looks ok reassemble and test drive. if unwanted abs still persists both hub bearings should be replaced (call your dealer and ask if a special policy exsits for this condition) usually no abs code w/ be present Good luck Ray..

SOURCE: abs and t/c lights are

When there is such a feeling, it is the brakes that needs total replacement.

Also you might have to check the master brakes for any leaks. And you need to check the bushing rubbers on the steering rack too.

Be careful and fix this on time.

I have a 98 Oldsmobile Intrigue the code c1226 and c1233 what does these codes mean.the track off ,anti-lock,service soon light are on what does this mean

C1226 Right Front Excessive Wheel Speed Variation
C1233 Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Input Signal Missing
You could have a bad sensor on the left front wheel or bad wiring. Have it checked by a mechanic. Your anti-lock braking system is probably disabled under these conditions.

C1226 and c 1233

C1226 Right Front Excessive Wheel Speed Variation, and C1233 Right Front Wheel Speed Circuit Open or Shorted.
Have you replaced the wheel bearing on the right front? the sensor may well be bad, look first at the wiring however, as a bad connection will produce these codes. road salt, road debris, etc can lead to wiring damage. if no damage, I would have the sensor checked for a proper reading, if its out of range, then replace the wheel bearing (or sensor if its replaceable separately, you didn't give a year) if it checks out OK then move to the wiring to the ABS computer, then the computer itself.

04 chevy impala trac cantrol active while starting of with wheels cut sharp to the left

Cou;d be a speed sensor/ABS. Cutting hard left or right is causing one wheel to move faster than the other. Slight variations will cause a traction light. Over time this will cause the ABS light to come on. I wouldn't worry about it right now. It would be hard to pinpoint the sensor that is going out. Just a note. When the ABS and Traction lights are on. All it does is revert your car back to the old system. Meaning that, your tires will lock up if you hit the brakes hard...

What is code 1226

Usually this is just a bad wheel bearing assy. Which comes with the speed sensor.. But double check the wiring to the sensor sometimes they can rub against the axle shaft if they come loose and get cut in two..

Abs activates just before truck stops (2005 chevy silverado) wheels not skidding, assuming a wheel sensor is bad, how do find out which one, or is the problem in the abs computer, abs light does not come...

This is a condition known as over active ABS. GM has a technical service bulletin for this. Basically what it say is to remove the front wheel speed sensors from the hubs, clean the mating surface between the sensor and the hub, apply some di-electric grease over the cleaned area, and reinstall the sensor.

You can try this on the front sensors and see if the problem goes away. I will warn you that you need to be very careful removing the sensor from the hub as they can break off. If it breaks off in the hub you will need to replace the hub and bearing.

You can also check to see if one of the front wheel bearings is loose. with the tire off the ground grab the tire at the 12 and 6 position and push/pull. if the wheel moves and you can see the rotor moving also than the wheel bearing may be sloppy enough for internal exciter ring to get an excessive gap from the abs sensor.

The easiest thing to do is look at wheel speed data on a higher end scan tool. When the symptom happens you will see the wheel speed drop out. Whatever wheel drops out is the wheel that needs to be checked.

Hope that helps.

Popping on left front when applying brakes (ABS).

Is your ABS light on? If so, you have a bad wheel speed sensor at the LF wheel. Or, you may have rust buildup on the teeth that the speed sensor measures. Pull off the axle, and check the toothed gear that resided in the spindle.

If not, you may havea sticking caliper piston, or inadequate lubrication on the caliper slides.

What does it mean when the ABS light comes on. Mine comes on intermittently and when I restart the engine it does not come back on.

I have the same car. This happens to me when the roads are wet and/or snowy. The sensor can get dirty and cause the light to come on. When it dries out the light should turn off. If not try getting a car wash that includes the undercarriage.
