SOURCE: 2004 Saturn Vue shifting problem

You should probably check the shifter cable. I had the same thing happen and then I couldn't shift into 2nd, 4th, and reverse gears. Then the cable snapped and I had to replace it. Be careful "man-handling" the shifter. If you break the shift linkage at the base of the shifter it's about $45 from the dealership. It's cheap plastic and doesn't take much to break. If you really want to know if it's the shift cable and not the gearbox crank the engine, have someone hold the clutch, disconnect the shift cables from the box, and manually shift the gears. If they move smooth, it's probably your cable which would mean there's a kink in it somewhere. You can't fix that. Depending on the VIN you're looking at anywhere from $189 (what mine cost with tax) to a little over $200 (from the dealership brand new). Talk to the parts desk at a Saturn dealership and they can tell you which one you need. Hope this helps

SOURCE: removing door panel to access window motor on a

You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. If needed, you can pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything inside the door

Why does my 96 3.0 maxima keep having to have harmonic balancer replaced

That's a real tough one. How many have you had? Are you getting the new ones from the same source? It may be a bad batch if you are. Other possible cause is misalignment of the belt pulleys or over-tightening of belts. Is it being fitted correctly by mechanic? By that I mean he's not stressing the rubber by holding outside of pulley with large pipe wrench while tightening centre nut. I know this is not a solution and I'm sorry about that but it is a guide to possible causes and apart from the above causes I really don't know. Unless you want to go with the poltergeist/alien theories ha ha.

Harmonic balancer bolt is torqued to specs, but there is still play in the pulley.

The pully assembly for the serpentine on my 2004 santa fe has a loose pully, ie: it came apart when I pulled off the grime shield in the wheel hub, IDK which of the pullies this loose part connects to, and...

It sounds like the harmonic balancer came apart. This is a two part pulley seperated by a rubber gasket. The part itself is much less expensive at auto parts stores than the dealership but you may need to wait a few days for it to arrive as most stores won't have the part in stock. A picture of the harmonic balancer is below:

Pully is seperating from crankshaft

Sounds like a failed harmonic balancer. This pulley should have rubber between the outer surface and the center hub. If it does it's called a harmonic balancer and you can call your local parts supplier for price and availability...Hope this helps

Might be that one of your other pulleys is bent and over the course of a month it wobbles the belt and causes the harmonic balancer to split apart. Check all the other pulleys to see if they wobble or are bent.

Replacing 2004 cavalier crank sensor, i can't locate the best way to replace it. need a diagram or where i can find it.

The crankshaft position sensor should be located on a small metal bracket very close to the harmonic balancer which is attached to the end of the crankshaft. If you are having trouble locating the harmonic balancer, it is the lowest pulley on the passenger side of the engine, in the center line of the engine.

Cooling fan hits the harmonic balancer. Took the fan blades off and the belt still runs off the pulley. Something seams to be miss aligned but I cant see what it is.

Your harmonic balancer is coming apart. The Balancer has rubber ring that eventually wears. I also know that when people try and use WD40 on the tensioner pulley because the bearing is squeeking the WD40 sometimes works its way to the balancer or accidently sprays on the balancer. The WD40 eats away at the rubber. You will need a removal tool to do this. Where you pick the balancer up they should have this.

it looks like this
