Windshield wipers Wipers were stuck to the windshield with ice when I started the vehicle. Something popped and the wiperes don't work. I hear the motors running. I can grab one wiper blade and both move. I believe it must be the linkage but I'm afraid its to deep to get to. Its a FORD so probably have to remove the dash. Tell me I'm wrong and its a simple fix, Please. Chuck

Super, I'll pull it in the garage and most likely save a couple hundred bucks. Thanks a bunch.

Don't have to remove the dash- remove the plastic black cowl just under the wipers. The "pop" you heard is probably the clasp coming off the ball nut connected to the wiper motor. check the mounting plate for damage (usually they're good or need a little bending-needle nose pliers work best). Screw the two nuts back down after you reposition the unit. Turn on wipers to test connection, but make sure wipers are clear before testing. Replace cowl and you're back in business.

My windshield wipers wont work.

It Sounds Like, Either The Arms Are Loose ,If You Can Hear Something Moving Behind The Dash,
Or The Linkages Are Seized ,If The Motor Just Hums No Movement Heard,In Which Case Try Spraying Q 20 On The Linkage And Try Moving The Wiper Arms By Hand To Get It Going Again,
If Not The Motor May Just Be Burn;t Out.

hi by the sound of this you may have two problems firstly when the wipers froze to the screen and got switched on the linkage that links the wipers has probaly come off if your lucky you can probably pop it back on the other problem is that the fuse for the wipers has done its job and blown when they were stuck to the screen so needs to be replaced if you look in your handbook it should tell you the location of the fusbox and the type of fuse required

You broke the wiper transmission. Most of the time they are dealer only parts.

Windshield wipers won't work right

The windsheild wiper relay might be stuck or broken. Try tapping it with something or replace it. Could also be the the switch (lever that you control the wipers with) i hope this helps and good luck with diagnosing your problem.

Front wipers stopped working but you can hear the motor run also

If the wipers were buried under snow/ice or frozen to the windshield, you may have blown the red 10 amp fuse located in cavity 9 in the fuse block located on the bottom left side of the instrument panel near the parking brake pedal.
In order of easiest to check:
1) ensure wipers not frozen to windshield.
2) ensure wiper arms are not loose on the pivot stud,
3) check the red 10 amp fuse.
You stated that "you can hear the motor". Which motor do you hear? The engine or the wiper motor?
If you hear the wiper motor, then the fuse is alright. Try 1) and 2) above.
