Question about 2001 Chrysler Sebring

1 Answer

2001 Sebring blow cold air

I have a 2001 Chrysler Sebring. When the headlights are turned on, the heat blow cold air. It is not the heater core. Could it be something electrical? Can you tell me what it may be?

Parking light bulbs have two elements bright for the turn signal dim for parking light. If one is in wrong the bright element will run any time the lights are on. this will cause a feed back in the electrical system and anything can and will happen. It can screw up the A/C,heater,dash lights, cruse control radio, clock. If it's only one side wrong one turn signal will flash a little faster than the other.

I have the exact same problem.
Is this really a thermostat issue? With headlights turned off everything works perfectly normal.

2001 sebring blows hot air then after approx 20 mins blows cold air. Temp gauge inside car only goes up to about 1/4 mark.. any ideas? Had coolant system flushed.

Sounds like maybe a stuck thermostat. or a blocked heater core. Just cause the system was flushed dosent mean the heater core was cleaned out.

I have a 2001 sebring convertable 2.7 V6, when I have the headlights on my heater is blowing cold air, turn them off and hot air blows, the dash lights at the temp knob and the fan speed knob are also...

I would expect this is more to do with a low coolant level than an electrical issue. If your coolant is low when you turn off the headlights your engine revs will increase slightly increasing the pressure in your coolant system and pushing fluid into your heater core.
Check your coolant reservior when your car is cold (first thing in the morning), it should be at max cold. If it is lower than this you may not have warm coolant in your heater core.
If this is the case...then where did your coolant go?
Most likely the thermostat/temp housing is leaking...replaced both on my two 2001 sebrings...common issue..~$150 for parts and a little awkward to install but fairly easy fix.

Heating problems

replace the heating core but change the antifreeze first and clean the system and make sure there's no stop leak in the hoses. you will need to flush the heater core out completely several times to know for sure.

2003 Chrysler Sebring, no heat cold air only. Have filled coolant. Hot air will come out with fan turned to high for a minute or two and then it will change to cold only. Any ideas?

sounds like a restriction in the coolant bypass and or heater core. you will want to check if both sides of the heater core hose near the firewall are hot on both sides if so you have an issue with the air ducts but if not then you may have a failing heater control valve or a restriction.

My 2004 Chrysler Sebring heater works about 30% of the time. The other 70% it blows cool/cold air. Also without my touching the dials will change from floor to defrost on its own quite often. This morning...

Ok Curtis... There may be a problem with the relay switch on this Sebring also check if the heater core is all the way open there should be a valve on the inline under the hood.

Cold Heat in a Sebring

I would have the heater core checked. It could be something as simple as a fuse but unlikely. not likely to be the thermostat as that would make the car overheat if it wasnt working.
