Some GM products also incorporate the oil sender switch into that circuit for fuel pump, so that in case of an accident, engine shuts off, oil pressure drops, in turn, shuts off power to fuel pump. May be worth a look at what your getting for oil pressure, as well as checking switch/sender.

SOURCE: 2004 Dodge ram diesel just die out of the blue.

It sounds like it could be the transfer pump. Turn the key on and then crank the engine for about 1 second but leave the key in the run position and listen for the transfer pump to run. It should run for about 15 seconds after you stop cranking. If not, then you will need to replace the transfer pump with a in-the-tank conversion kit if your is mounted on the side of the engine block below the fuel filter housing. If you already have the in-the-tank pump then it might be siezed or the "sock" might be plugged up with alge or other contaminants. I usually lift the bed rather than removing the tank to replace the fuel module. If the check engine light is on you might want to have it scanned for codes to make sure since the modules can be spendy.

SOURCE: ford festiva just dies while going down the road

i had many problems with what i thought was my starter/ignition and replaced my alternator and battery. tho they were helpful, ultimately the problem was a small fusible link that had needed to be replaced, as it was over heating and when it would it would stop whatever electrical signal was imperitive to the car actually running. if i was driving and the wire over heated, it would stop running right on the road. i just used some 12 AWG stranded wire and it stopped stalling.i discovered it by accident when i touched the wire and noticed it was excessively hot and worn down. it was located in the upper right hand corner under the hood, where there are 3 wires, brown and black.

SOURCE: My Mazda mx3 starts up idles for a couple seconds then dies.

Before you replace the fuel pump, I would check the cheaiper parts first. Such as fuel filter and injectors.

SOURCE: 1995 nissan pickup truck fuel problem

Fuel injected or carb? Make sure fuel line itself is clear. Some pumps are designed to self regulate (carb systems) some continually pump and a psi regulator sends back the excess fuel back to the tank (fuel inj systems) If the line is obstructed then pump can't deliver fuel fulltime.

If you think pump is not on consistent, try running a dedicated wire through a switch directly to the pump. If it works then you are looking for an electrical fault going to pump. Good luck.

1999 GMC Sierra 4.8l running rough now wont start

Recommend starting simple. If you suspect fuel pressure, it might be easier to start with replacing the fuel filter first, and checking fuel pressure at the filter while your there. It will give you a better chance to determine if the problem is at the pump or closer to the intake. If for some reason you have to replace the fuel pump...very common in this model truck because fuel gauge problems, the easiest way to access the pump is to unbolt the truck bed, block it up wood (Significantly easier than dropping the tank. I tilted mine to the passenger side), then you will have easy access to the pump. CAUTION!!! The connectors on the pump are brittle and break easily, especially in a vehicle this old. It's very difficult to get replacements, so take your time to prevent breaking fuel connections.

During my traveling 40 miles each day to work and back, my 1991 Accord simply stops running while going down the road. I have to pull off the road and continue trying to start it, sit and wait, sometimes...

Have you replaced the main power relay? It's what causes the 90's Accords to just suddenly shut off and not want to start back for a few. Also, how old is your distributor? It's another problem part on those Accords, that has all these sensors inside that go bad.

Turn on the key and listen by the fuel tank for the fuel pump to hum. A common problem is low fuel pressure. It will build pressure when the key is turned, use that fuel, and then the pressure drops. Kind of like when you're using a squirt gun that's getting empty.
