Keep in mind that the Clutch won't engage for a few safety reasons.
Temperature inside vehicle
Temperature of compressor or pipes
Pressure inside pipes
Compressor jambed
Eg It's out of refrigerant Gas
You can momentarily engage the clutch by simply giving it +12v to the wire attached to clutch. Usually has a connector close by.
Or
If it has a Relay (click) in fuse box
You can by pass it with a jumper
A quick engage & disengage should allow you to detect possible problem.
But don't over ride the built in safety for more than about a minute.
Should be on upper side of tranny. some times you could keep driving and that would work the air out by it`s self.if not you could have air leak in the system. marv
If the ac compressor clutch turns on and off constantly, it could be low in freon, make sure it has freon, you can purchase freon cans already set up with a hose and a guage to read your freon pressure
if the freon pressure is normal, check the switch at the accumulator a long cylinder with a switch and a molex with two wires attached to it, with your ac running on high, move your molex it could be making a
bad connection, if the molex is okay, jump out the molex, if the clutch engages and stays running, just
replace the low pressure switch. good luck!
sounds as though there is a leak, check all connections on a/c lines, now you will need to see if the clutch is getting power, if it is then the clutch will need replaced, if not then check to make sure where the fuses and relay plug into are receiving power. Hope this helped Tim
