I got a used car a few days ago and forgot to check the dvd player in the car. Now, when I try to switch it on nothing works. I don't see power in the system itself. Is there anything that I can do to investigate before taking it to the work shop?

look for a small pinhole opening on the face if you find one that is the master reset stick a paperclip into it and ther you go

I had the same problem and carefully cleaning the map DVD solved it. After years of use, a film gets built up on it. It is under the front passenger seat.

screen on the blower motor gets dirty and overheats the transistor and blows it
