SOURCE: 2003 Mercury Sable headlight bulb replacement

This problem is now resolved, thanks to a prior post by sableowner.

The 2003 Sable has the same headlight assembly and removal/replacement instructions as the 2001 Sable. Once I had this information in hand, bulb replacement was easy.

There are also two serpentine belt types for the 2002 sable. The S and U type engine. Take the old belt with you the the parts store. As for the diagram, I googled it under images and about a dozen correct ones came up. Remember the 2002 sable is the same as the 2002 Tarus.

If it "RED" in color, like p/s fluid, and coming from the BOOT, then its your p/s rack assembly. The unit has to be replaced and alignment reset. ..also check the HOSES they are prone to leak also...hope this helped..GL

1995 mercury sable 3.0 litre. i hear a squeaky type noise coming from the drivers side when the car is being driven. looking for possible causes.

It probably is the link from the lower control arm to the sway bar. I put some oil on mine and it stopped. Just turn the wheels to left or right to get to it. It is plastic with a swivel ball on each end.

When I press on the gas on my 2002 Mercury Sable I hear a squealing noise under the hood. What could that be?

The main causes for the problem can be as follows:
  • The drive belts may be loose or slipping.
  • Any pulley system which connects the engine is misaligned.

I need to know where the fuses are located on a 2002 Mercury Sable.

Hello Amanda.

There are two separate fuse panels.

One is under the hood under a flip up black cover near the battery. This one is called the battery junction box.

The fuse panel inside the car is located below and to the left of the steering wheel by the brake pedal. You will need to remove the panel cover below the steering column to access the fuses. This one is called the central junction box.

If you need further help in locating the panels, ask me here in a comment.

My 2003 mercury sable will not start. it is not the battery. it makes a weird click click noise when key is turned in ignition. what could this be?

If you are sure it is not the battery then it has to be the starter. If it makes just one click when you turn the key then the noise you are hearing is the starter solenoid. This means the starter gear is engaging with the flywheel but the motor is no longer working and is not turning the engine over. I hope this helps!

Mercury Sable makes noise when turning left and backing in? It sounds like a grinding noise.

Sounds like a CV (Constant Velocity) joint. I can't completely solve this for you, but you can re-post with the CV problem. The sound - grinding and or popping - should be coming from only one side of the car - but it could be the inner or outer CV joint on that side. Check the rubber boots around the joints - they are located on each end of the drive shaft on the transaxle. If you have a torn boot, that will probably indicate which joint is bad.

I have a 1997 mercury sable it was running fine till i got it back out the shop, it will run go in to gear but when i brake there is this grinding noise it was a little noise but now its gotten worse does...

have your brakes check. the type of noise that you are hearing is common when the brake pads or shoes are worn so much that metal on the pads or shoes is grinding into the rotors or drums

Loud thump near front left wheel when turning left

from the left??? passenger or driver side... this maybe a CV boot problem depending on what side you are speaking of. A CV would be the Ujoint for front wheel drives
