I had the same problem on my 2006 Lucerne and it was the engine mount located on the front of the vehicle behind the radiator.

SOURCE: My 2002 honda civic has a steady clicking noise

sounds like rockers need adjustment or timing belt or even the timing belt has split and frayed causing a slapping noise on the engine components as upon acceleration will cause such a noise happened to me a few times before as well ..open hood and visually inspect ....then start engine if nothing is seen and locate the source of noise this way just keep your hands etc away from moving parts

SOURCE: I have a 2001 toyota camry. I hear a ticking noise

depending on what engine, you may have adjustible lifters. aIf it doesn't you may have a lifter bleeding down. you may want to try a bottle of lucas additive your next oil chang.

SOURCE: I have a 4 cyl 2001 toyota camry. I hear a ticking/tapping

if the oil level is ok,and the noise is coming from the top of the engine i would think also in the lifters,if is from the bottom, then the problem is in the crankshaft bearings, either way that would cost you some good money to fix it,i would recomend to add STP or Lucas engine restore to help the engine to lubricate better, they dont fix the problem but help to run you engine for a lots of more miles before you come up with some resourses to fix it wich is only possible replacing the parts, they cant be adjusted

Under load, accelerating there is high pitched not very load ticking or tappety noise. The noise decreases in intensity as load decreases.

Could be pinging (engine knock) engine running lean. Check fuel pressure and inlet manifold for leaks.

I have a 2003 Chevy Impala. I ran my car with no oil and now I'm hearing a loud ticking/knocking noise coming from under my valve cover. I added 2 bottles of oil after finding out that I didnt have any...

might be the valves have been damaged running without oil
- or the crankshaft / camshaft / main bearings
most probably you have to let the engine be rebuilt by a mechanic
(expect cost of more than US$ 2.000)
or get another (used) engine at a scrapyard 2003-chevy-wutfveiel3ypko01ydor435x-5-0.jpg 2003-chevy-wutfveiel3ypko01ydor435x-5-2.jpg

My 2002 honda civic has a steady clicking noise that goes faster on acceleration. The noise is audible though just when idling as well. Any ideas?

Needs more oil or you spun a bearing. Also could knocking lifter. Try some engine restore if your oil is at the proper level. If that doesnt work it will be spun bearing or bad rocker. Have it checked out by local mechanic to be for certain.
