2004 Honda Civic Key/Alarm issue

I want to just use the key to unlock and lock my 2004 Honda Civic, but the alarm goes off as soon as I open the door. I have to use the keyless remote to unarm the car, but want to just use the manual key. Even if I unarm the car, shut the door and lock it with the key, once I unlock the door with the key and open it up, the alarm will go off.

SOURCE: Car Alarm

sounds like the drivers side key switch has failed remove the interior door panel and there will be a switch attached to the back of the key lock cylinder or around there it should be two or three wires also check the door jamb wire harness where the door closes for any broken or damaged wires, use a vot meter and see if you get power or ground to the opposite side of the switch when you use the key to lock and unlock the door if nothing changes and there is power or ground! at this switch i would replace it, i don't think there is one but if the car has a passenger side key hole try to unlock the car from that side and see if you get the same problem -jeff

SOURCE: Car alarm doesnt work after dead battery boost

The computer detected a fault. You SHOULD NOT drive it around with that blinking, or you will regret it. Take it to the dealership immediately and have them pull the code.

SOURCE: Key Fob does not work and alarm goes off when raining

the central locking control unit is in the drivers door. there's a polythene sheet in the door panel. If that's ripped or petrified then rain may be screwing with the electrics. it may be worth taking off the door panel and wrapping it the controll unit in a shopping bag or summat.....

2003 Honda Civic has check engine and oil light on without putting key in after connecting battery.

Question moved to model category.

All sorts of ideas here. You need an auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer to sort that mess out.

You could try a reset again.

Disconnect both battery leads for 10 minutes. Hold positive and negative together for 2 minutes. Connect positive lead. Connect negative lead. Reset security system.

2003 Honda civic alarm fob not unlocking car

Usually when you change a Fob battery you have to re-sync it to the car. Some cars have you lock and unlock the drivers door with the key.
Should be in your owner's manual.

The battery for my honda civic type - r went flat and when i put a new one in the alarm went off so i tryed to sync the keys to the car ( it tuns the alarm off and u can drive it but once u lock the doors...

Here are the options for disarming a factory alarm while it's going off:

1. Close all doors, trunk and hood. Alarm will stop after preset time.

2. Hit the unlock or lock button on the remote. (One of the 2 works... I just don't remember which.)

3. With all doors, trunk and hood close, insert the key in the driver's door and unlock/lock the doors manually.

Also, is it a factory security system? Is it a honda key fob? or a remote start system perhaps?

How do I turn off the car alarm? There's nothing in the manual. (2004 civic hybrid)

Unlock the drivers door twice. The other doors have to be closed and if their not electrically closed it'll still not reset. Double lock the drivers door with the key all the doors should lock.. The alarm should stop. Unlock the drivers door and then get inthe car and start it soon. the sysstem should go though a full reset and it should be normal again.

Honda civic 2004: the car alarm (factory installed) goes off when we unlick the car with a key, but not with the remote. How do we stop the car alarm from going off?

This may sound really dumb but have you tried shutting the alarm off with the remote before turning the key? I am sorta wondering if your key is worn out and the alarm system reads it like someone putting a screw driver in there to unlock it. Just a thought. I am guessing here so please be gentle on me. Raz
