SOURCE: car spits and sputters and stalls after driving a while

sounds like a fuel pump problem, with fuel pumps u can have pressure but not enough volume, try goin up a steeper hill in 2nd gear and get about 3000 rpms on the engine and see if it really drops out bad and is really gutless,if that happens without a check engine light coming on it might be yur pump and u should also replace the fuel filter at the same time, hope this helps

SOURCE: After starting car it sputters and white smoke

Your head gasket has a break in it,and ,or a cracked head. Be careful
not to let the engine overheat, and cause severe engine damage. I'd
suggest not using the vehicle, until you have it repaired. Good luck.

SOURCE: 99 olds silhouette... changed plugs wires and coil

will try to help, are you sure the fuel pump comes on and runs through the whole cycle of turning key on for 10 seconds through at least 5 cycles? the timing light may be picking up the crankshaft positioning sensor signal, it's magnetic pulse. and then again you could be dealing with a bad timing chain or belt, most likely chain driven. am trying to help, but not sure unless i hear it onsite. at least this may point you to something. sorry at no charge, hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com if no help please repost!!!1

My 1999 blazer spit sputtered and then died turns over then acts like it timing jjmped well with new timing chain still doing this any ideas

Go back to basics, spark and gas getting to the cylinders? Does the engine crank at normal speed for cranking? If so, check spark and gas. If it's in time, it must have lost one or the other.
One easy way to check, spray some stating fluid into the air intake (take off the large boot) and try to start. If it runs or almost starts on the fluid, you know it's a gas problem. If it doesn't fire at all with the fluid, it must not be getting spark. Then you check out or test the ignition system.

I have 2000 Oldsmobie Bravada that spits and sputters every time I hit the gas. I've had an induction, transmission flush, tune up (all new wires and spark plugs), new EGR valve, new throttle position...

I went through this problem, and did everything you did, even the SeaFoam. Turns out, the new distributor caps I bought were defective. I switched it out to another brand, worked for a day and then sputtered again. I read somewhere that (FOR THIS VEHICLE) aftermarket caps and rotors aren't manufactured correctly, causing arcing. Switched the cap and rotor to AC Delco brand, and all ran good, going on 1 year now with no problems.

When u push on the gas it spits and sputters, it ran out of gas like 2 weeks ago and yes sometimes i do let it run low on gas. It spits and sputters when i turn a corner or go up a hill

Could be a clogged fuel filter, and or dirty fuel injectors. Try running some strong injector cleaner through it. It may take 2 or 3 times before it cleans the injectors out fully.

1995 Jeep grand cherokee is missing while running. When it is under a heavy load (driving fast) it runs fine. When idleing and slow driving it spits and sputters.

I have the same problem on my 95 grand cherokee laredo. Sometimes it starts out fine and after about 10 miles it starts spitting and sputtering. Then after a while it seems to clean out and run fine again for a little while. Then other times it starts out spitting and sputtering at the begining. I changed the fuel filter and that was not it. It is a 4.0L 6cyc. Any Ideas?

Thanks,

My jetta sputters sometimes when im driving

I recently had a similar problem. I got my car scanned and needed a new catalytic converter. If its already starting to spit and sputter, you probably have 3-6 months to get this done. Mine plugged up one day, and just flat out would not drive anymore. This cost of this repair was about (i recommend changing the spark plugs and wires also) $675....pretty costly. could get a lot more expensive the longer u let it go. Does your jetta run cold, in cold temp? (between 25-40 degrees) if so the thermostat probably took out the converter.
