Drove through water up to lights and died, push key and fired right up. went back through water and died and there was no more fire. engine is water free same with tranny. will turn over but no fire. fuel pump started to ocationaly works but wont fire wen working. can anyone help? or similar problem.
From what you describe the pump itself is probably OK or it would not run at all.
You obviously still have a water problem in the pump wiring or in the pump itself. Get under the vehicle and trace the wires all the way back to the engine bay, starting at the pump. Dry everything you can reach with a hairdryer (not a heat gun - too much heat). Once you figure it is all dry, spray every connection with electrical parts cleaner.
If this doesn't fix the problem you may have to consider replacing the wires - not as difficult as it sounds.

Sounds like the fuel filter is dirty and needing to be changed. It's cheap and easy to swap out.

If you're standing looking at the rear of the vehicle, it's on the chassis rail on the right hand side rear wheel arch.

for Land Rover Discovery 1999-2004 no more external Fuel Filter serviceable anymore...it's a built-in part with the fuel pump. so if you want to change the filter then change the whole fuel PUMP.
