Dashboard background lighting for speedo and revcounter etc

Speedo and rev counter lighting went out while driving. Nothing else affected, lights came back on temporarily then off again. Suspect bad connecion as I would imagine more than one bulb is used. How can I get into the rear of the dash to check please.

Speedo and rev counter reading even when engine is off!

I have a similar problems on my 2005 9-3. It has developed a number of minor electical issues. including dial and false warning light triggers. I have fixed most of them by simply going round the car disconnecting the electical connectors and spraying "switch cleaner" (Maplin or Radio Shack).
The only problem I have left is the rev counter occasionally starts reading high, removing the fuse (end of dash panel - 4th fuse down) for about 30s with engine off normally resets everything back to normal.
Hope that helps.

Engine warning light , battery light, warning light , rev counter , speedo and temp gauge going on/off intermitantly and speedo not working on digital screen on ford focus can you help. the battery is new...

My 04 Ford Focus the battery light keeps coming on & going off, have fitted a new alternator belt but it didn't solve the problem. The battery connections are good. Also the rev counter, speedo & mileage clock keep going haywire when the battery light is on. Do you think it is the alternator? Or is it some other common problem?

Speedo unit died then Fuel gauge went to max

the dash control board is the controler for the boards in the dash, fuel temp etc. inside the dash itself, a board on the rev counter controls voltage to feed the the fuel gauge etc. the back of the speedo burnt, there is the 3 pin voltage control chip on the board. you can replace the boards. you can remove them from another dash and place them into yours but if you say the board burnt out on the speedo . then i would just change the dash as it would be easier as you would need to replace the speedo as well. you will also need to inform dvla that the speedo has been changed as for mots its recorded. or have the speedo rectified to the right mileage. not informing dvla can affect your insurance.
