SOURCE: replace oxygen sensor on 2003 chevy silverado truck
it's not hard to change, kinda like a sparkplug with a wire permenantly attached, if you go to O'reilly's or Autozone they will loan you a special socket to take it off and install the new one, Generally most cars have two one before and one after the catylitic converter, make sure which one the code is telling you is bad. Also a cheap fix, many wrecking yards don't charge but 5 to ten bucks for a used one as opposed to a new one for 60.00 to 100.00, If you don't mind going out and removing it, You take a chance one getting a bad one but, you can always take it back and get another one

Need a 7/8 open end wrench or a o2 sensor socket. Located in exhaust pipe. The one closest to the engine is Bank 1 Sensor 1. The ones located downstream and known as "Sensor 2"

should be 4 two pre convertor and two post conv.if they are faulty there should be codes set for each one but as a rule of thumb they should be replaced every 80-100 thousand miles depending on driving conditions.
