Probably Traction control for slippery roads. Helps put power to wheels that aren't spinning, rather than the ones that are, for better/safer traction while driving.

It is traction control, but be careful.  Pushing the button TURNS OFF traction control.  Traction control is on automatically when you turn on the ignition.

SOURCE: button that says "trac" over the steering colum

for traction control. most vechicles are automatic, puch it it may turn it on or off, if it turns off it should have a light that says traction off. Less drive wheels can make minor improvements to gas mileage as well as not wear other parts as much.

Need to remove steering column on a 1992 lincoln town car

Remove the steering wheel, turn signal reset (plastic), remove clip and spring. Remove trim to expose the entire colum. Disconnect all connectors. There are four main bolts holding the colum up. Remove the bolts and lower the colum. At the end of the steering shaft there is a bolt going through the colum. Remove the bolt. The colum can then be removed.

Well sometimes you can wiggle the steering wheel back and forth even when wheel is locked just apply moderate pressure and try to wiggle steering wheel back and forth and at same time use your other hand and try to jiggle the key to the on position.

Trac on does not help traction whatsoever totally helpless when snow or ice---not sure it has worked since new when press steering column button to turn trac off---will show trac off on dash----and when...

The traction light only shows when it is turned off. If the traction control wasn't work, the van would show a code aka engine light would come on. Tracation Control only works at speeds below 35 mph.

Looking for a diagram of the power steering system for a 2001 Chrysler Town & Country . Missing a hose that comes out of a filter looking thing W/ 4 hoses, under the bottom center of the vehicle.

Go buy a 3/8 inch transmission hose (most stores sell it by the foot) and cut it to length then reclamp it. I just did this to my 2001 Town/Country tonight and it worked wonderfully! Hope this helps you!

The key does not turn or start

Wiggle the steering wheel a little and try to turn the key. Also foot might need to be on the brake. It may be binding on the steering colum lock.
