1994 Oldsmobile 88 Royale 3.8 L engine motor races

Engine goes to a fast idle repeatedly. Stopping the engine and restarting always resets to normal, but drive a short time and it will resume the fast idle. Vacuum system checked and OK, Throttle position sensor harness replaced, Idle control motor replaced, ECM replaced - all with no results. Ecm calls for high idle speed in spite of all inputs reading normal.

on the intake (carb) there is some pipes in the middle coming off these are the breather lines, remove all of them and blow down them to check they are clear. the main one you need to clean it the on that come from the top of the engine to the middle of the (carb) there is a small hole inside there that can be block by burnt oil managing to get through the line and block off the air so the engine revs up to get more air.

Loking for fuse box/relays diagram for 1994 Olds 88 Royale

Fuses (located on a swing down unit near the steering column or in the glove box) protect all the major electrical systems in the car. In case of an electrical overload, the fuse melts, breaking the circuit and stopping the flow of electricity.

I suggest check your 1994-Oldsmobile-Eighty-Eight-Owners-Manual for descriptions (page 223 and next).

Hope this help..
