My car's rpm's were running high so I had it checked to find out the transmission solenoid valve was bad. after replacing it the clutch/transmission will not engage at all. What are the possible causes of the clutch not engaging, I'm assuming the new part I bought at carquest is good.

SOURCE: transmission slipping
IF THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS THE FORWARD CLUTCHES ARE LIKELY WORN OUT OR THE TRANSMISSION HAS LOW HYDRAULIC PRESSURE, BOTH REQUIRE THE TRANSMISSION BE TORN DOWN AND REPAIRED OR OVERHAULED.
