SOURCE: trans not shifting

your transmission has a vacumn modulator on the side it requires vacumn from the engine to shift make sure the vacumn hose from the trans to the engine is plugged on and working, if that is correct then step 2 is the governer which would require a tranny shop to check, but id bet on the vacumn line give it a try! good luck and thankx billy

SOURCE: 96 chevy 3500 5.7 tps low voltage when cold trans

If I understand you correctly, you got a code error on the TPS (Throttle position sensor) If you can get a scanner hooked up to it, and push the gas pedal down slowely and then let off slowely you can watch it on the scanner. This will tell you if the sensor is not smooth, or has dead spots. You might want to start with this.

SOURCE: trans on my 1999 3500 silverado is shifting late

Hi, the late shift, and late overdrive issue may not be trans. related, if you need to feather the accelerator to achieve your shifts, and you have a late sift, or loss of power, you may have a restricted fuel filter. The lack of fuel volume can result in what feels like a trans. issue, but in actuality, you are starving the engine for fuel. I would check this first, as it is an easy, cheap possibility. Good luck...Coop

We changed the flywheel and trans fluid on a 1995 Chevy Silverado 3500 with 6.5 diesel and now it won't shift from 2 to drive or overdrive what can it be

Are you sure you have the transmission electrical plug inserted completely and that you did not get any dirt or fluid into it? The transmission is controlled by a computer.

1994 chevy 3500 6.9 diesel you drive it acs like running out of fuel half to bleed lines to get air out to start back up

sounds like u got a clogged fuel filter, or you have got a fuel line somewhere that is sucking air in, could be anywhere from the pump back to the tank, if that shows no luck, get a piece of clear hose and put that just before the pump and look for bubbles, the slightest of bubbles will cause it do run rough and stall
failing this and there is no air bubbles i would say your injector pump needs rebuilding but this is rather unlikely unless u have got a fair few miles on it

hope this helps

I have a 95 chevy pick up with 6.5 diesel engine and converted to gasoline engine witch is 5.7 vortec engine and change all the wire harness inside the cab and engine compartment. Trying to figure out the...

Hi :) Check the wiring harness for a fuel pump relay that is on the firewall. The trans is computer controlled (shift points, firmness, ect). You would either need to run a TBI motor from a '92-95 3-4 or 1-ton truck and get the computer to go with it. Then the new gas computer can run the trans. You will also need to swap the torque converter to a gas unit instead of the diesel. OR get whatever motor you want, and then use a stand-alone controller for the trans. They cost about $600+ for the controller. Still need to do the torque converter. You could run the diesel TC but it just wouldn't perform to full potential. It will bolt up, but a diesel transmission is different from a gas transmission. Diesels shift way earlier and only go to 3500 rpm max. If yo u do the engine swap, you will need a new valve body in the transmission. I have a 700R4 in a 1935 Ford truck. It never shifted right unless I drove it manually. It always bogged down. I took the transmission to 5 different shops and no one could figure it out. After 6 years, I was telling a buddy about it and he had me bring it to his shop. He changed the valve body (was a diesel trans and I didn't know when I bought it at an auto swap) to a corvette valve body and now the truck runs great.

Have a chevy express diesel 3500 it runs good except it sometimes stall while driving and at certain speeds it jerks every now and again

it sounds like the transmission is slipping. you can try a bottle of lucas transmission slip fix but thats more of a band aid. if any fault codes are present check those, could also be a shift solenoid going bad. make sure fluid is at proper level and see if it looks or smells burnt, good sign of a slipping trans is burnt fluid.

Will a 1994 chevy 4l80e 4wd swap into a 1995 GMC

Yes they will swap out nicely, the years where they made the change is in 1997 and the only difference is the transmission end housing has a different bolt pattern but has the same internal parts. You may also want to swap out the servo's with a corvette servo. The cost is around $45.00 and can be done without dropping the transmission pan, this will make your transmission shift firmer and will have less clutch slip[ between gear shifts. Good luck and hope this information helps.

I have a 94' chevy 3500 dually with the 6.5 turbo diesel.

If it was the trani I would be waiting to hear you say something like it slams into gear or the RPM's go up but the speed doesn't follow. you can try to shift it in low and manually shift it up as needed. It could be that your truck is not starting out in first but rather second. Am I on the right track, is this what your trying to describe.
