Overheated and lostpower stearing, towed home/replacedbelt. started fine, moved it around back and everything. Next day when i had to leave, fat chance! Made a series of horrible noises all at once, belt had slipped off. After putting it back, same thing, has to be shut off imediately. any ideas
Spin all the pulleys by hand. Is one ready to fall off or frozen. Is the water pump pulley sloppy? Has the water pump been leaking?

SOURCE: Serpentine belt slipped off due to anti-freeze.
Probably wet electrical components. Use an air hose to blow everything off , and let it dry good before you try it. Or, the mass air flow sensor could be dead.

What engine do you have? The 3.3 and 3.8 engines have a single serpentine belt, and a belt tensioner, so no adjustment is needed. Did you replace the tensioner, and want to know how much to torque it? countrycurt0

what brand belts are they? try gates where other belts stretch these will not, make sure ac not gat ot much freon in it or fans not cooling condenser down.this will make ac compressor try to lock up,,,,,i would try an old mans remedey ,axle grease on grip side of belt, not any thing else ,every thing else will come off, belt dressing will make things nasty and wont stop squeal

You will only need to locate the fan belt diagram to replace it on correctly and a 1/2 breaker bar or ratchet to back off the tension er while replacing belts check the tension-er bearing if it feels ruff when you turn it replace it. Check water pump also to see if it turns smooth same with the alt.
