I am having problems with my ignition on my 1995 dodge ram pickup. It will not turn over with the transmission in park, but will with the transmission in nuetral. I replaced the nuetral safety switch, but the problem persists. And when the truck gets warmed up, it won't turn over even in nuetral. Have to let it cool all the way off before it'll turn over again. The guy I bought it from had installed a swith between the relay box and some where else that cuts all the power off when switched. He installed it in such a way that every time I start the engine and turn it off, I have to turn the switch off and then on again before it'll turn over again. Any suggestions?

Linkage between Shift lever and transmission have a problem, and or their bushings, and or shift lever pivot. Sounds like your "reverse" is going into park instead of reverse.

Make sure the transmission is in Park (push it w/the foot on the brake). also, try to turn the steering wheel back and forth while turning the key in the ignition.

Sounds like the shift cable needs to be adjusted, it may not be going completely into park at the Transmission.

did you park with the wheel turned? You may have to turn against the ignition lock with one hand while you try the ignition wioth the other.
