  • Anonymous Aug 06, 2012

at least i know how to identify these things and change them so there are some men who don't

  • Anonymous Apr 07, 2013

In the 28 years I have been a licensed driver, I have found that letting some know it all man work on your car will cost you more than fixing it yourself and getting it right. Kudos for not depending on someone else to do it for you.

  • Anonymous Apr 07, 2013

A female working on her own car has a better chance of getting it actually fixed than letting some male do guess work. Kudos for working on it yourself. My suggestion, take it to the local Ford dealer and have them run a diagnostic on it. It will cost you a little, but in the long run it is cheaper than guess work. Good luck.

It could be down to your spark plug leads take the leads out one by one and get somebody to hold the lead to the engine [to earth it] NOT WITH YOUR HAND with something thats not conductive like something plastic then try starting the engine to see if a spark jumps from the lead and repeat this please dont do this with your hand its very dangerous enouf voltage to knock you out!

SOURCE: 2002 ford escort zx2 camshaft sensor fit a 99 zx2?

Yes, All the years of the ZX2 utilize the same engine. 1998-2003 are all the same except for ECU programing and the MAF wiring. You should not have a problem.

The tensioner pulley is the one mounted on a silver arm, usually at the top. Hope this helps let me know.

New coolant fan and new control module but coolant fan does not work on my 2002 ford escort zx2

Try checking the fuse box under the hood. It should have a fuse marked cooling fan or cooling system. If the car does start, that means the computer isn't out, but maybe there is a bad relay by the fan or in the circuit or even the temp sensor may be bad. The fan won't run until the temp is high enough; usually by the time the thermostat opens.

1999 ford escort zx2 cranks but won't start

As with any no-start issue, you will need to figure out if you have a problem with fuel pressure to the injectors, or spark to the plugs.
I would also check the computer for trouble codes.
Let me know what you find out.

Replacing plugs on 2003 Escort ZX2

Instructions1 Pop the hood and locate the fuel rail on the intake manifold. Connect the fuel pressure gauge to the Schrader valve at the end. Push the manual relief valve on the gauge to relieve the fuel pressure in the system.
2 Place a drain pan underneath the center of the engine, on the driver's side by the firewall. Locate the fuel filter, which is on the firewall on the driver's side, toward the backside of the engine.
3 Disconnect the fuel lines running to and from the fuel filter using the pliers and then unbolt the filter from its mounting bracket using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Remove the old fuel filter and discard it.
4 Set the replacement fuel filter in place. Make sure the arrow on the filter is pointing toward the engine and away from the gas tank. Secure it in the fuel filter bracket using the ratchet and then reinstall the fuel lines using the pliers.
5 Start the engine and make sure everything is running correctly.
Thanks

1998 Ford Escort ZX2 lost power/shakes

The fuel filter should be replaced every 2 years. It is easy to do since it is on the firewall. You don't even have to get under the car. Low fuel pressure can cause the issues you described. A dirty air filter can do this as well as bad spark plug wires. These cars are picky about the type of spark plugs you use as well. None of the gimming (+2, +4, splitfire) plugs should be used. I've had best luck with Motorcraft and Autolite plugs.

I have a ford escort zx2. It's been idling erratically and will sometimes stall. I've already tried replacing the the iac valve and that didn't work. Any other suggestions on what might be wrong?

Fuel filter, air filter and spark plugs.

Can also try adding a can of fuel conditioner (e.g. HEAT) in case you have water in the gas line.
