Be sure you have inspected the gas tank for any small leaks...the smell and drip will vary by the tanks fill level...Hope this helps.

SOURCE: smell oil but no oil leak

this sounds like a "crankcase vent valve"issue this part typically fails in colder whether as condensed water in the oil freezes and causes the engine to seep oil from the crankcase itself valve cover oil filter housing at block, the main part is located behing throttle valve but you can see the plastic hose that attatched to the valve cover,if you were to have removed the oil cap you can notice a cream like substance which is a mixture of oil and water, this is conformation of this problem also this would cause excessive oil to be consumed.google this part to get a better idea of what it looks like and what it does as it is basically a pcv system, this should be changed as it can cause engine failure

Possible causes
- Faulty Oxygen Sensor
- Vacuum leak affecting bank 1 only
- Fuel injector problem bank 1
- Check for cylinder misfire on bank 1
- Engine mechanical conditionTech notesThough the Oxygen (O2) sensor, the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected a lean system, which means that there is either not enough fuel or and excessive amount of air in the system. Start by checking for vacuum leaks.

Smells of petrol

Have a mechanic locate the leak, this is dangerous. A pot of water will absorb gas vapors, to keep it from spilling put a towel in it.

Bad petrol smell

In most cases smelling gas inside the car comes from air entering the venting system from the engine compartment. Just a few drops can cause a strong smell. And a small leak may be tough to find.
It could be excess fuel going out the exhaust pipe, but your check engine light should be on if that were the case.

Ford focus 1.6 zitec petrol, engine warning light flashing, engine chugging, very high fuel consumption, fumes smell when stationary, exhaust seems ok, recently change speed sensor and coil pack?

try the air filter first and the intake.the spark plugs then and after all go to a garage for checking compression timing and the head gasket.
