Volvo S60 sensor ?

Our 2005 Volvo S60 has a rough idle when cold and the check engine light comes on with a text message to "slow down or shift up" even though the transmission is changing OK.

    I had the same problem with my c30 a few months ago, it happened to me twice, i had rought idling and then when i would step on the gas, rpm would go wild from almost dying (~600rpm) - 2000rpm, then i saw the message "TRY SLOW DOWN OR SHIFT UP", i brought it to the dealer, they said volvo can't retreive error logs(which i highly doubt), and then i left it there for 2 weeks for them to check if the problem would come out, they claimed that there were no problems, but since then, the problem didn't come back, if only they told me what they did..

Sounds like an oxygen sensor (there are two). I had a recent problem where I had a rough idle and my S60 continued to stall out. Turned out to be the rear oxygen sensor. After replacement, car idles nicely and car drives normally.

Fix the switchblade key with a broken locking mechanism so that when it is inserted slot down the case of the key does not hang just over the knee(1/4 Inch) like a lever.. with a key chain the broken switchblade key is hanging on the right knee and can easily turn the ignition switch off..similar to the GM recall problem..Solution insert key slot side up so key does not hang and take the key chain off..2nd solution fix the switchblade key locking mechanism so it doesn;t matter whether key is slot up or down..

I have a 02 S60. Was having the same problem. Turned out to be the Ignition Coil. There is one per cylinder. Looks like a boot that goes on top of the spark plug. Have like an auto parts store pull the codes to find which cylinder is"mis-firing". Or inspect them and look for defects such as cracks.

Hallo, my engine light is ON,message is : Kühlmittel Niedr Motorabstellen. meesagge is in Deutche language.the oil level is too low,car is run no good, fuel consuption is 45/100 ;70/100 90/100....PLEASE HELP ME !!! Thank you in advance !

    Your cooling liquid level is low. You can tip it up with watter, however when winter comes you should change all of the fluid to match the non-freezing temperature

Lately hard to start and idles roughly while cold
If it has not generated a "check engine " light, troubleshooting will be more difficult. You have a Cold Routine for starting that is triggered by temperature. It is possible that a temperature sensor is not good and therefore the Cold Routine is not cycling.

Contact Autozone, or Advance autoparts for a scan or talk about this part that you may need.

I get a warning message, "HIGH ENGINE TEMPERATURE-STOP ENGINE" from our 2002 S60 Volvo upon starting. The check engine light also comes on. The electric fan come on and runs for approx. 2-3 minutes....
Mine is doing the same thing. I have taken it to the shop and the mechanic can't find anything wrong with it. When he resets the diagnostic, the car runs fine for a few days then it happens again. I'm thinking it is something due to the cold temps here in NW Iowa. It is obviously not a cold weather car!

No. that just a transmission vent.
The problem cant be related to the tube.

Actually cuts out while driving, or when at idle stopped at a light or something? If it is the latter, have your oxygen sensors checked and maybe your fuel pressure sensor or MAP sensor.

if you could get your hands on a scanner to read some live data it would help your plight,there is a cam position sensor when you take of the the plastic head cover at the timing belt end,did you check plugs,it also might help to clean the maf with some contact spray,sounds like plugs

Volvo S80 2.5 turbo 2004 i DROVE ONTO THE MOTORWAY HOME. AS I WENT DOWN THE SLIP ROAD THE OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE ENGINE ROUGH. I IMMEDIATELY PUSHED IN THE CLUTCH AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND PULLED ONTO THE HARD SHOULDER. I WAITED A COUPLE OF MINUETS AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. THE PRESSURE CAME BACK AND I CAREFULLY DROVE HOME DROVE 11 MILES TO PICK UP MY WIFE WE HAD ARRANGED TO GO OUT, DROVE UP TO THE MAIN ROAD AND THE SAME THING APPEND. TURNED IT OFF AND FREE WHEELED BACK TO MY HOUSE. THE RAC CAME OUT HE CHECKED THE OIL AND ALTHOUGH IT WAS A LITTLE LOW HE SAID THAT WOULD NOT CAUSE THE PROBLEM HE STARTED THE ENGINE AND AGAIN THE OIL PRESSURE CAME BACK HE TOOK IT TO A GARAGE. THEY KEPT IT FOR TWO AND A HALF WEEKS SAID IT WAS FIXED AND FIVE MILES ON IT APPEND AGAIN. SO STILL TRYING TO FIND THE PROBLEN
